"There were some maintenance issues with the hotel. The lights on the elevator button on the 9th floor did not illuminate, my room lights were also a little trouble. There were a couple of bugs in my room as well. The check in staff was not as accommodating as I would have liked. However, the hot spring was great. The hotel bus driver and restaurant staff were very friendly."

However, I noticed that a large proportion of the guests were Korean and Chinese tourists, with relatively fewer visitors from other countries. "The hotel is very well located, near the train and bus stations. We could walk to the castle in 10 minutes. The area felt safe and calm. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We appreciated the amenities available for free in the reception area. The laundry area was useful (though busy). The staff helped us arrange luggage transfer to Magome and stored our backpacks after check out when we went to tour the city. This is a very good choice for a trip to Matsumoto and the price is fair for the quality of the room."

"We enjoyed this hotel during a brief getaway during the summer to escape the Tokyo heat. The hotel is located in a very nice location in old Karuizawa (Kyo-Karuizawa), close to many nice restaurants and little shops, while also being very quite. Rooms are very large and modern, the hotel has its own hot spring (onsen), and high speed internet is free. Very friendly staff and a large and tasty breakfast buffer. We definitely plan to visit again."
