Ten Thousand Islands, Florida hotel rooms at the Independent

"There was no one at the front desk for over 40 minutes. No one was available to help us."

"This is an older property needing some upgrades. If choosing a suite, you should as confirm the location and ask not to be on the first floor. The oceanfront view was obstructed, you could see the ocean if you were standing up, turned your head to one side, and closed one eye. If sitting on the patio, you will NOT have any view of the water. The suite itself was dark, and without adequate lighting in either room, the mattress was hard as a rock, and the sliding glass doors were in need of Wd-40, as were could barely open any of the doors. After speaking with the front desk we were told it was the only room available. We surmised that we were given that particular room due to booking through a third party (Expedia). BTW, you won't receive any points from Hilton's honors program, for the same reason. Marco Island was nice but, we'll never stay here again."

"What a wonderful stay here. Don’t be fooled by the location. It is an exceptionally quiet clean location. The staff was wonderful. We will definitely be returning on our next trip to Marco Island."

"Besides being charged incorrectly THREE times, our overall experience at the hotel was still very good. The hotel itself was very clean, well-maintained, and comfortable throughout our stay. My son and niece had an amazing time enjoying the water park and all the different activities the hotel offered for kids, which kept them entertained the entire trip. Most of the staff was friendly and helpful, although there were a few exceptions. There was always something fun for the children to do, which made the stay even more enjoyable for our family. If the billing issues had not happened, the stay would have been close to perfect. Overall, we still had a great time and created wonderful family memories."
