The COVID-19 outbreak has triggered major changes to how we travel. If you're flying to Western Nebraska, the following tips will help you navigate travel's newest challenges:

• Find out if any travel restrictions apply to your destination and origin before locking in a flight. Also check if there are any conditions you'll need to follow on arrival, such as mandatory quarantining.
• Wear a face mask even during airport screening. A TSA officer will ask you to temporarily lower your mask to verify your identity.
• You're no longer required to hand your boarding pass directly to a TSA employee. Rather, position your pass on the scanner and then hold it up for inspection.
• You can take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your carry-on baggage. You'll need to remove it for screening.
• Empty your personal items from your pocket, like your small change and phone, and place them in your carry-on rather than the bins. This will minimize handling during screening.
• Transport all food items in a clear plastic bag and also place them in a screening bin. Separating food from your carry-on means it's less likely a TSA officer will need to open your bag for inspection.
