Lovely staff, lovely room and very good breakfast. Right beside Whitby Town FC, a short walk along the waterfront to the Whalebone Arch or in the other direction to Pannett Park and the museum

A very comfortable stay

Saxonville is a very nice, traditional hotel with services to match. Staff were very polite and helpful, amenities were very good and breakfast as a person with coeliac was great. Would certain consider this hotel when we next visit Whitby.

A nice traditional seaside hotel on the outskirts of Whitby. Close to the seafront within walking distance of the town centre. Lovely friendly staff. Great breakfast included. Private off road parking 20 metres away.

Perfect place to stay in Whitby

This place is a family ran hotel - it’s spotlessly clean and the breakfast is amazing. I can’t say enough good things about our stay there it’s in a perfect location for the beach and town- guest only parking over the road first come first served but always loads of spaces. Staff so polite it was prefect to be fair.

The hotel is a bit dated decor wise for my taste. However is exceptionally clean and service was above and beyond. It is obvious this hotel has been run to a high standard for many years and why change that. If visiting Whitby again I would re book

4 star service for 3 star hotel.

Travelled to Whitby for a 2 night stay. Location of hotel was great as easy walking distance into to town centre and attractions. The service provided was excellent. Breakfast was brilliant (table service), and a good range of options. Water and refreshments were provided in our room on arrival and also alternative options for food allergy.

Very enjoyable overnight stay in Whitby

Quite an old fashioned family hotel in Whitby. Welcome, check-in and service throughout were superb. Obviously significant money has been spent on refurbishment. Room was excellent, well equipped and comfortable. Only downside was the refurbished bathroom, which, although not small had limited shelf space for toilet bags etc., water pressure in shower was so low that it was barely useable although pressure in bath underneath was fine. Sadly the bath itself was "of the smaller variety" reminiscent of student halls of residence! Dinner and breakfast were both very good with lovely staff.

room smelt funny. bed not the best and pillows tired and poor. room noisy, could hear water being drawn through pipes to other rooms. could here the grandfather clock chime through the night that was in the lobby. could hear them crashing bottles and glassed about at midnight when after bar had closed. minimal tv oprions. not full freeview. but was good shower and good parking facilities

Great stay, once room changed

This is a nice old/traditional hotel in a good location in Whitby. Having booked a deluxe twin we were initially placed in the only ground floor room 1. This had problem drains that made glugging noises and made the room smell musty, had clearly not been renovated for some time and had soft beds. Next day we changed to a lovely upper room that could not have been more different, with a sofa + chairs, comfy beds, good standard of decor etc. Breakfast is good with a range of choice all served to your table. Yes, we would go back and stay again, but only after making sure that we are not in room 1.....

Underwhelmed for the £400+ paid.....

Distinctly from a bygone time. If you can find a staff member after breakfast you are doing well. Tried to spend the £60 + drinks cost of the evening meal and despite there being only 3 diners in a room of empty tables the battle hardened receptionist that evening told us we hadn't booked so there was no meal.....so we took our business around the corner for half the cost and double the atmosphere. Our allocated breakfast table and its unchanged cloth of 4 days gradually became more and more dirty as the food came and went during our time. Our shower was a trickle our bed was lumpy and we appeared to be sharing the room with mice in the wall or under the floor given the scratching and squealing going on at 3 and 4am every morning...wish we had booked an apartment for the grief of being locked out at the midnight curfew...how this place survives is amazing....but given the unbelievable amount of 10 stars exceptionals on the reviews....also there is a distinct non-disabled feel to the place....its full of stairs and steps and tight doorways...been there done that...goodluck goodbye....never again....but has a private parking area in a zoned street....
Our allocated unchanged stained dirty table cloth of 4 days stay in the Saxonville dining area......
