Breakfast was very good . Room was spotless.10 mins walk to city centre . Very close to Barbican centre . Great choice of recommended restaurants we went to thai tapas khaosan road again very good .The owners were very nice and went out of their way to help. Will be booking next trip to york
The host was very kind and helpful. The Barbican is located just outside the wall, which is brilliant, as inside the walls is quite noisy until very late. We would definitely stay here again!
Friendly staff helped us get the car parked early in the day before check-in, so we could explore York. The location was fantastic, and the room was clean and adequate.
Barbican House was amazing, the owners were very friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was beautiful so much that we ordered it for our second morning as well. The room was a lovely size and beds were very comfy.
Lovely family-run B&B, walking distance from the city center. They were kind, helpful & accommodating to our early bag drop-off too. The room is spotless, comfortable & I would return for sure!
The host was genial, interesting, helpful and welcoming. The excellent service ethos was impressive. The room and breakfast were excellent and restaurant recommendations were most helpful. We would happily return to this lovely B&B.
we found the property spotlessly clean and the father and daughter team we interacted with to be very friendly and accommodating. Only criticism is that the bed was very soft and hammock-like.
Lovely place to stay with very friendly and helpful owners. Absolutely recommend. Room spacious, clean and comfortable with everything you need. 2 min walk to York Barbican and 10 min walk to city centre. We will definitely return. Overall, an amazing 2 night break! Thank you for having us.
Barbican House is lovely. Very comfortable bed and room was decorated very nicely. Breakfast with tea was wonderful ( you need to order the night before and it is an extra charge). Durga is lovely and even ordered a taxi for me to get to the airport.
Our stay at the Barbican House could have not been better!
Sabina got in touch with us before our arrival to ask about our estimated arrival time and whether we required parking. Durga kindly welcomed us on our arrival and he suggested various places and restaurants to go to. In addition, there were many other additional recommendations in the guest book we found at the room we stayed in. Fantastic communication all the time!
The room was spotless, very comfortable, and had everything we needed. In addition, the hotel is within walking distance to all the places we had time to visit during our short stay. We would have loved to try their breakfast as all reviews were extremely positive about it! Unfortunately, we had a very early event to attend both days, and sadly we had to miss it.
If we ever come back to York, our first place to check will for sure be the Barbican House. Thanks ever so much, Durga and Sabina, we really had a wonderful time!
We booked the Barbican House as we had tickets to see Paul Weller at the Barbican. From the minute we arrived they were so helpful. The room itself was spotlessly clean with the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. We hadn't booked breakfast but decided to order as we arrived, the cost was £15 each per night, it was delicious with fresh fruit and cereal to start and then a full English with gorgeous bacon and sausages. Nothing was too much trouble for the host, he was so lovely.
We had such a wonderful stay we didn't want to go home.
Would definitely stay here again it's a gem of a place.
Thank you again for your hospitality.
This was a very cute bed and breakfast and the host was beyond helpful. I really can't say enough good things about him! We unfortunately were not able to have breakfast as they don't start serving until 9 and we needed to be on our way for the day by 9 :) The room was clean, although the bathroom could have been cleaner. Speaking of the bathroom, the shower was tiny. The shower in a travel trailer is bigger. If you are a larger individual, or if ladies want to shave their legs, not a chance. It is like being in a sardine can. The other item to note is the location. It is very conveniently located for walking to downtown to see the attractions, however, it is on a very busy intersection which was very loud and had bright lights all night from traffic.
The owner, Mr Durung is such a nice man, friendly, helpful and with an impeccable military background too.
My room was very nice. Lovely furnishings, clean en suite bathroom with a nice shower plus multiple tea tray options and plenty of milk and sugar which is often kept to a minimum at other places. The bathroom toiletries (The White Company) are not cheap and they smell absolutely lovely. The B & B is well situated with the nicest smelling fauna on the exterior corner. Access to the city wall, the Shambles, Minster and all that York City centre has to offer is a convenient short walk away. The only downside for me was the noise of the traffic outside but that's a personal slant as it wouldn't be an issue for a heavier sleeper. All in all, I would throughly recommend Barbican House. The 'No vacancies' sign was displayed while I was there and I can totally understand why it's such a popular place to stay.
Our host was extremely helpful, courteous and an absolute pleasure. The room was clean, comfortable with everything we needed and breakfast was plentiful and tasty. The location was great - close to the city centre and the Barbican, which is why we chose it. We would definitely stay there again if we were overnighting in York.
we stayed at Barbican House as we were going to the Barbican theatre, 2 minutes walk away. The room was lovely, clean and comfortable with plenty of tea and coffee to choose from. Breakfast was good to. Parking was a bit tight but the owner parked the car for me and it fit in well.
