Friendly and helpful staff. Parking was pretty rubbish though, the car park only has a dozen or so spaces and getting a spot is pot luck, also a bit pricey at £25. The building itself is very big and beautifully decorated / furnished. Had a very nice stay. Although strange that check in is from 4pm, we have been to dozens of hotels and 3pm is generally check in time.

If you’re looking for a cheap hotel in a convenient location then this is a great hotel. Unfortunately the parking at the hotel is nonexistent and £25 per night. The shower in our bathroom turned the floor into a swimming pool, the carpets were stained with an unknown substance and the room hasn’t been updated since the Romans were last here.

Not unique but sometimes lacking in some hotels, this is the service, friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. They were, without exception willing to ‘go the extra mile’ to help.

It certainly wasn’t a “deluxe” room. What we paid for a perfectly average room with a big bed. The room was somewhat dismal and dark with very poor lighting. There was 1 bathrobe (for 2 of us) no shower gel, the shaving light didn’t work in the bathroom. They only had one member of staff on reception on a busy Saturday near Christmas for everyone trying to check in , which left a rather long queue through the entrance foyer (same happened at checkout) Just a very expensive “average” hotel. Not really what you’d expect from a “Hilton” in our opinion.

The hotel is fine for a couple of nights although it could do with updating in many areas (having to walk up outside stairs to reach your room is not ideal). The footfall noise from the upstairs room was terrible on both nights, even with a change of occupants. Needs some sort of sound proofing. The staff member we complained to was great and offered to change our room, but it was after midnight. The electrics blew in our room when we switched something off; again the staff were fantastic. Breakfast was fine; normal buffet staples and it was kept well supplied. Bathrooms need a complete refurbishment with easier access than climbing in to a narrow bath to have your shower. Summary: The staff are wonderful but the hotel, which years ago was excellent is now merely a convenience.

Plenty of it and good choices. Great location of the hotel for the city centre.( this is the correct spelling of centre. It's not center.We are not American). Enjoyed our stay

First the good bits - decent location immediately outside city walls at Monkgate and decent breakfast. The bad bits: VERY LIMITED PARKING, which is not mentioned in the hotel description with only about 15 spaces including 4 electric and 3 disabled bays. During my 3 night stay, the car park was full with only 1 car actually using a charger, and 1 registered disabled badge holder, the rest were regular cars. The alternative is a public car park 300 metres away at £25 per day. I stayed in a ‘motel’ room - my room door opened directly onto the car park, where at 7am the foodservice and laundry trucks arrive right outside my door. Room was only partly made up on the last night - and the drains in the bathroom stank.
