With new rules, restrictions and safety measures in place, travel looks a little different at the moment. Here are some useful things to know before you pack your bags for Zhangzi Island:

• Research if any travel restrictions apply to your destination and origin before locking in a flight. Also check if there are any special conditions you'll have to follow on arrival, such as installing a contact tracing app.
• When you go through airport screening, keep your face mask on. You will be required to lower it briefly to confirm your identity. Travelers who refuse to wear a mask may face civil penalties and may also be escorted from the building.
• To reduce the risk of cross-contamination, place your boarding pass on the reader yourself and then hold it up for inspection. Do not hand your pass directly to a TSA officer.
• You are now permitted to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your carry-on baggage. This will need to be taken out for screening.
• Empty everything from your pockets, like your wallet, keys and phone, and put them in your carry-on instead of the bins. This will reduce handling during screening.
• Separate any food you're carrying for X-ray scanning. Food items often trigger the alarm. Putting them in a clear plastic bag and into a bin reduces the need for a TSA employee to handle and inspect your belongings.
