As a connoisseur of fine, high-stakes vacationing, I’ve graced many a RIU resort with my presence. Overall, the classic RIU DNA was firmly intact here: the food was absolute magic—I’m 90% sure the omelet chef is an unregistered wizard—and the service was delightfully adequate, given that the staff somehow managed to keep us all alive in a hotel that is actively attempting to return to the sea. Which brings me to the resort itself. "Charming history" is a polite way to put it. "An ancient ruins simulator" is slightly more accurate. I strongly suspect the building was constructed during the late Jurassic period, and management has opted to leave maintenance up to gravity and prayer.

We had a wonderful stay at The Cove. The resort is beautiful and elegant, and the service throughout the property was excellent. We especially enjoyed Fish by José Andrés and Paranza, where the food and service were outstanding. The beach was beautiful, with crystal-clear water and soft sand. Our only disappointment was the beach service for drinks and refreshments, which was very limited and sometimes almost nonexistent. Overall, a fantastic experience, and we would definitely return!
