The room was ok, mostly clean, tidy. The hotel had no restaurant or bar, the hallway and outside smelt of cigarettes. Most rooms are taken up for emergency housing. The room itself was ok, relatively new. But overall the hotel itself was rundown and disappointing.

Booked for 2 nights. For 8 of us. Had asked for adjoining rooms. Didn’t get that. Had said to the cleaner only one room needed cleaning. On our return the room hadn’t been cleaned at all. Staff very friendly. We were on holiday and it seemed that we were surrounded by homeless people. I didn’t feel safe. When I booked they said the only day the restaurant wasn’t open was Sundays. On arrival Saturday was told that the restaurant was having problems so it was closed until further notice. I don’t think it’s a family friendly hotel. Thank gosh for UberFood!!

Says it's a smoke free room but it stunk with smoke. Phone doesnt work and also checked before our arrival if they have hairdryer but tried to use it didn't work. However they did give me a working hairdryer when asked for one. And they did offer to change our room. So thank you for that.

The stay here was great, the only down fall I had was the landline in the room, was trying to order room service however the line was not working at all? I even tried using my mobile to contact front reception but kept getting the voicemail, but when I eventually got through the kitchen was closed. But other than that, enjoyed the stay here and would rebook again.

Budget short stay
This is a tired hotel in need of refurbishment, however it did not disappoint us in the least - the staff were very helpful and friendly, the beds were comfortable and as our stay was brief it well suited our needs.

Location good for early flights or late arrivals. 10 min from airport. Rooms a bit dated BUT clean, comfy bed, staff friendly. 24 hrs reception. Would use this hotel again

The room was not too bad and had recently been refurbished, the common areas were shabby and didn't smell fresh. There were obviously families living in some of the rooms with personal belongings on the outside areas of the rooms which made the place look more untidy, there were also bags of rubbish left out in the hall ways.

if you stay here in the cheap rooms, keep in mind there is a single desert spoon, not other cutlery or plates. But there are two cups and two glasses. Also check the external door, dont assume that its locked when you arrive, mine wasnt. the automatic door for the car entry jams sometimes, you may need to try closing it and re-opening it a few times before you can drive in. For some reason I was asked for my credit card number when I arrived, supposedly because I might use some items in the fridge or the bar. I had booked and paid with wotif and wasnt going to use the bar so I declined. Other than that its a handy location if you are visiting someone at MIddlemore, not too far from Manukau town center either.

Our original room was not clean. Bathroom not clean, dirty dishes , dirty linen on floor... Old food behind the side tables. The staff member I spoke to gave us a new room which was acceptable. It would've been great to have a microwave and toaster to make our breakfast and heat up the food we had, but nothing was there except a kettle and very basic tea and coffee.

Room wasn't cleaned properly - condom wrapper found under bed and floor look like it hadnt been vacuumed. Apart from that we enjoyed our stay.

The Elevator to slow maybe the problem is It's old and smells, air conditioner not cooling the room, not enough towels, shampoo, dirty carpet cant sleep too much noise from other rooms, dirty yard all around the hotel, staff not helpful

Cancelled booking 2 hrs before check in
They cancelled & rebooked me into another hotel 20 Kim’s away. They told me it was 4 star and it wasn’t. The rebooked hotel gave us no privacy or balcony and was smaller.

We were given a newly refurbished room - but didn't have a fridge - we were given a fridge from another room, but it was totally iced up so couldn't use freezer box to store ice. Lack of cutlery eg teaspoons in room. However room was Ok for a night

I booked 2 rooms, both rooms could do with a very good clean. Bathroom doors were grubby, top to bottom, it was meant to be white, but it was more dirty cream. The second room had no tv or phone, plus there was no mini bar. The bar down stairs had no vodka and little of anything else and the bartender didn't know what he was doing. The restaurant was meant to open at 5pm and by 5.30 it was still not open. The shower couldn't make up its mind to be hot or cold and there was no pressure

It appears that some interior decor renovation is being undertaken, but there is a little way to go yet. Having said that, we had all that we required in our room for a good nights sleep.

Terrible experience if not the worst in my life.
Worst place ever. Dirty place. They gave us a queen bed and had no other option for us. I booked saying that we were in 4 but they gave us a bedroom with only one queen bed. Smelling cigar smoke, no TV, no remote control for the dirty air conditioning. I paid $96 for it and only paid $99 for one of the best experience value for money at 219 John's Motel in Christchurch.

The hotel room was absolutely shocking. Water marks down the walls, smelt musty, no television (hole in the wall where it previously was). Room was dirty and I was so shocked. I would recommend others avoid this hotel.

While the room was very clean and tidy the milk in the fridge was frozen. when we we supplied with more milk that also becam very quickly frozen. There was no coffee, or hot chocolate or even enough cups to go around also there was no teaspoons or bowls. I informed the staff that my grandson would be staying with us and they didn't even provide an extra towel for him to use for his shower.

it was a pleasure. Person on reception on arrival was great. Room was clean, everything that we needed was at our fingertips. Down side, the cleaning of touch points needed good clean, door handles light switches, cob Webb’s in the corridors leading down to rooms. And the elevator outside doors need cleaning. First impressions count. Over all good

Floor towel and hand towel stained. Looked foul. Didnt use. No normal power plug in bathroom, so couldnt blowdry hair, as only mirror is there. Had to phone and ask for an extension cord and wait some time for one to be bought to room. Had to phone reception by using my mobile, as there was nothing in room to show what receptions number was... and trying ZERO was incorrect. One lamp didnt work and was no main light in room lamps were needed to bring lighting to room. People making a real racket at night with cars stopping and dropping oeople at their room, and entering from sliding doors, and banging constantly. Heat pump sitting completely next to drapes... net curtain was right at heat pump, which I felt was a fire hazard. I decided to open net curtain up wrong way, to make sure wouldn't get too hot and cause a fire..
