Christopher,Thank you for reminding us of our age.However, Clelia looks and acts like she is 50, and until very recently people generally guessed my age as 64 or so, but I now feel like I am 100, what with a good bit of back and knee problems lately, so I guess that makes our average about 75 and that does make us elderly on average, but we are too busy to think about it. Glad you mentioned the pancakes. They are a recipe that Clelia developed over a several-month period nearly 20 years ago. Many ask for the recipe as she is a super cook, and most folks love our breakfasts. We try to make them very special with antique German china that has been in my family for over 50 years, Irish crystal, and 100-plus-year-old silverware we had restored in Peru, plus her great food.

I am sorry you didn't like our location. Most folks love our very convenient spot.True, we are in a residential neighborhood with no shops immediately adjacent, but the Lite Rail, 250 yards from our front door, takes you to the Inner Harbor with all of its attractions after a 10 minute ride.We are also reasonably close to Penn Station...15 minute walk through an nice neighborhood.Maybe you are concerned it is an interracial neighborhood? Love my neighbors. They are all good people. Been here 24 years this month. Never a problem.

Greg,I agree completely about the confusion with the reservation. There was a previous guest for that room on that date who had made and then later cancelled a reservation through Expedia. We were informed of that reservation BUT WE WERE NEVER INFORMED OF THE CANCELLATION. It is all supposed to be fully automated. But we never knew you were coming until you showed up. Bad show by Expedia! Looks like their software glitch to me. Do regret you had to experience that confusion at registration. We were every bit as confused as you were.

Peter,I went back and reread both the listing for the Newport Room on Expedia and on our website. I do not see how it could have been any clearer. If you, or anyone else who reads this review and then reads the listing for the Newport (and Peach) rooms has any idea as to how to word the description of those two rooms sharing a bath but with private entrances from both rooms, could be any clearer, I would love to see it.Yes, indeed, we have not yet installed A/cs because this is the coldest May I can recall. The temperatures have not gotten out of the 60's at night, and all rooms have big fans.Also, you will recall we offered to install the A/C, but you declined. You are right, it is a bit noisy with the window open. Those windows have sound-deadening triple glass. But that room does have a big fan and since the temperature was in the low 60s at night it never dawned on us you opened the windows. Your mark of a 6 is the lowest mark I can recall since right after we opened in 2004, and most strongly disagree with it. Clelia, my wife and partner, is manic about perfection in every aspect of this business, from cleanliness to perfection in the preparation and presentation of the superb breakfasts we serve on antique china, with antique silver and real crystal and linen. I did appreciate you mentioning I was a help to you. We both go well out of our way to everyone. We were both brought up that way. "Do unto others as you would done unto you." We pretend every guest is a very rich favorite relative, and try to treat them all that way. Sometimes it is very easy, other times, not so much so.I could see a 9, but a 6? Come on man, give folks a break.

Also, my mother grew up with antique furniture, and I furnished my apartment during my last 2 years of undergrad in San Fransico with them.
