"Lovely hotel in a peaceful and safe part of Amsterdam. Staff were welcoming and friendly. The hotel has lots of nice touches like free fizzy drinks and a hot drink machine in the communal area. Rooms are small but cosy."

"This hotel was exactly what me and my friend wanted. The price was amazing for Amsterdam and we had a balcony room looking over the canal it was gorgeous. The hotel is old fashioned and the room very basic but you have everything you need. We loved the vibe of it. The stairs are thin and steep but we managed fine."

"We loved our 5 day stay at this hotel. All of the staff are very nice to deal with! The room was supper nice and the beds were really comfortable to sleep on. The breakfast was very tasty and had a lot of choices to choose from. The woman that managed it on 4 of the days we ate there, was unusually friendly, smiling and checking on us many times! They gave us good instructions on how to get to where we wanted to go ( museums and other attractions we wanted to see ). They also gave us umbrellas to use when ever it rained at no extra cost."

"We enjoyed our stay at the Melrose. Excellent location in the 9 streets district. Very walkable. Staff were super helpful especially with the check in. We arrived at 9:30 in the morning during a one day transit strike. My spouse was not well when we arrived and the staff were so accommodating, as soon as the room was ready we were given access. Rooms are clean and comfortable. No breakfast available. However there are coffee shops and bakeries close by. Also a grocery store across the street that has lots of prepared food choices. There is a comfortable lounge and tables in the lobby to have your breakfast if you choose to. The location is great, close to the museum quarter if you are mobile, if not the tram is at the end of the street. Staff were super in arranging taxis for us. Lots of restaurants close by too! The only down side was our room keys seemed to only work once, then back to the desk to have them reset."

"Our room was perfect size, clean, bed very comfortable, cleaning staff good and helpful. Reception book in and out was quick and helpful. Information and taxi booking very efficient and helpful. Breakfast was enjoyable and sufficient, although the hot food we would have preferred a bit hotter. Staff were friendly and efficient, seated quickly. Gluten free was catered for and lots of choices. One member of staff, Angela Hang, was very helpful with my gf and also very professional, efficient and lovely to talk too. The only problem that we encountered was at breakfast on the Thursday. We felt invisible, seated quickly no problem there, took a while to be asked for our drinks order, was busy so understood, took my gf order. We were not asked for our egg order and could not get their attention, had to as for more milk twice and gave up and went to get. The lad did apologise about the milk. When asked when we left if all was okay I did say and write a comment on what happened. Very apologetic and a note and fruit was sent to our room apologising plus free drinks at the bar. That was nice and it was the only because of 1 member of staff I couldn’t fault the rest. The hotel could not have been more apologetic. Our stay was here was very good and we would return."

"Great little hotel on one of the canals. Super easy to get to with the tram and rideshare. Bright, clean, great staff. Tons of things to do if you get to the corner and go left, towards downtown, or if you turn right towards the Rijks museum. Food, art, shops, art, bikes, art, coffee, art, music, art… and more art. The staff is super friendly, knowledgeable, and ready to help. Great drinks at the bar, and fries! Breakfast was great as well, has all the requirements and a few very local flavors."
