"This is a great hotel for a short stay in Colchester. A very good breakfast, large rooms, and the location is great if you want to explore Colchester (right by the castle and park). "
"Very comfortable room & bed.
Superb meals in the elegant Carrier drawing room.
Slight downside in that we were kept waiting to sign in. Disappointing that mostly the flowers on display were artificial, despite having a cut-flower garden outside."
"We loved it here, had a a good couple of nights with friends. Beautiful apartment, amazing mattresses and pillows, very quiet environment. The pool wasn’t open and some work was happening but you can tell it’s going to look amazing once they put it all together and summer prep work is expected at this time of year. Kara was fab and we met a super helpful housekeeper who is doing a degree who was a literal walking tourist information centre. Great atmosphere all round ."

"Fabulous choice of food for breakfast. Yummy too.
Rooms were a good size with comfy beds.
Elspeth was a complete angel seemingly appearing out of nowhere when I got stuck. "
"Lovely place to stay, got plenty of fore warning that their lift was down. Comfy bed with extra pillows. Everything was clean and fresh. Right on the high street so very convenient "
"This was a wonderful experience, very friendly staff who were always ready to help, offering glasses of chilled water in the spacious and well-furnished public rooms and alcohol in the evenings. We stayed in the large Shakespeare room, often used as a Bridal Suite. The spa is great, with a good sized pool, a jacuzzi and unusual sauna.
Really good breakfasts served in bedrooms and at the nearby sister-hotel Milsoms. The fine dining at the main restaurant on the nearby River Stour was sublime, with exquisite food, terrific service, a knowledgeable sommelier and wonderful ambience at tables outside under large parasols. Staff offer free shuttle service to and from both restaurants whenever required. A super weekend, we will return."
