Our check in was 2pm. At 6pm they told us that we couldn’t check in until 8pm… they spent Two hours trying to find us another hotel. I’m really disappointed. It was my nieces 21st party and we missed the food and the start of the party. I got offered breakfast but wasn’t told it closed early

Ich musste mehrmals mehr als 10 Minuten auf einen Fahrstuhl warten. Einmal musste ich die Rezeption anrufen. Es kam jemand und hat mich abgeholt. Die Sauberkeit im Badezimmer entsprach nicht meinen Anforderungen. Der Boden wurde anscheinend sehr oberflächlich bis gar nicht gesäubert. Das Zimmer war ansonsten gut ausgestattet und sehr geräumig.

Lovely hotel i was upgraded and stayed on the top floor with beautiful views of the beach The staff were super friendly and helpful My plane was delayed for four hours and so staff allowed me to check out later Definitely would recommend Rydges Hotel Cairns!

Close to everything with a short walk along the esplanade. The only issue was the room was a bit run down, the room definitely needed upgrading. Also when I turned the fan in the room it would trip all the power in the room.

An excellent stay overall. If I had to find a criticism then it would be that the decor was a little dated and could use a little ‘refreshment’. That must not detract from this excellent stay with really friendly and efficient staff. The hotel has a great location providing easy walking to the city and the harbour. Excellent value for money and I would certainly be happy to stay there again.

The room was overall pretty good, but not for an executive upgrade. However, we did enjoy the complimentary wine, thank you Rydges! We liked the balcony but it had no chairs, no table & could of done with a paint. I’d suggest bring your own plates and cutlery, there were none provided in the room. The pillows were very flat and too high if you used 2. The staff were lovely, gave us more pillows, (the same flat type though) and told us we could borrow kitchen items from the restaurant. The king bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was a good size but could’ve done with an upgrade as it was basic. Although, I have to say, as we booked through Expedia the price was fairly reasonable and all up we enjoyed our stay.

We liked staying at this property. The kids had their separate space with bunkbeds, although their room could have used a door. The rooms were spacious and quiet. One of the negatives was visiting in winter, as the rooms did not have heating nor the pools. The property is also several blocks from the main tourist spaces, so we had to drive to eat, shop, etc.

Staff were great and found us an early checkin when we had to change hotels after a tour. Rooms were a bit dated and I hated the little step into the bathroom. I’m a bit disabled. The food options were basic but the breakfast was fine and no problem getting soy milk which I need. We left excess baggage with them when we left for two trips without charge or difficulty. There was a useful fridge in the room and the bare minimum of tea and coffee facilities, also useful.

Underwhelming. Expected more from Rydges. Looks flash, but lacking in holiday atmosphere. Not even a local map to be found at reception. Cheap 'Made in China' gift shop just off the reception is tacky. Vending machines with drinks/snacks etc were available, but at ridiculously inflated prices. If you're travelling with kids, do a big supermarket shop before you get there. It's about a 15-20 minute walk to the supermarket, and about the same to the lagoon pool. No shops immediately around the hotel. The housekeeping staff were friendly, and courteous, and kept our room in good shape with minimal disruption, however, asking reception staff for an extra bath towel for my room involved an interrogation that I did not appreciate! Nothing to make me come back and stay again. It was ok for a once off.
