“You’ll never have a more higgledy piggeldy experience with a hotel than this one. But oh how it’s worth it! The buildings were built in perhaps the 1200’s, so the floors are very uneven. The rooms and baths are comfortable, the porridge for breakfast delicious and the location unbeatable. The staff couldn’t be more helpful. In short we loved it. ”

“My room was perfect. Small but not cramped. Lovely window seat with window that opens. The view is stunning especially at night. Excellent cooked breakfast and friendly helpful staff. I don’t have one complaint I will definitely return. ”

“A clean, well-run place. I booked at the last minute, so the email with information on accessing the place was sent by email while I was on the train. Wifi on the train was non-existent, so I had difficulty downloading the information, so I rang the landlord, who was extremely helpful. ”

“Beautiful quaint guest house, hosted by the kind and very helpful John and his lovely wife who went above and beyond. John was helpful in sharing information about local attractions as well as nice places to eat. Really enjoyed a quiet weekend away at the coast. Must stay if you’re in Dover. ”

“The woman I spoke to was kind enough to let me check in several hours early, and I was upgraded to an absolutely GORGEOUS room and full bathroom including large bath and separate bidet. The location was fantastic; close to the middle of town and the local beach, quick walk (though very steep) to the castle, in between walks to the white cliffs in either direction. She also let me leave my bags late while I explored more before leaving for the cruise port. All in all, one of the most beautiful...

“In over 30 years of travelling on business, this is one of the best places I have stayed in.Although I did not meet the owners it was clear that the accommodation was well looked after and virtually everything had been thought of for the comfort of their guests. Virtually everything was absolutely spotlessly clean.The only small point I noticed was that there was dirt around the toilet seat hinge - a bit of a dirt trap and difficult to access(I'm sounding like a "Four in a Bed" contestant...

“It's a great retreat. The environment is quiet and chill,, rooms with good view on a grassland with cows & hares getting around. The only thing is the privacy,, since the glass of the window is not shaded and the people passed by could easily see through into your room when you are looking at the beautiful view.”

“I love these type of B&B’s. This B&B is steeped in history built in the 18th century, On the land owned by the Spencer family, Vincent Van Gogh also lived on the square, so this is not a modern hotel if that’s what you’re looking for, it has steep stairs and smallish rooms, but is full of character, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the hospitality was fantastic and the breakfast was delicious, the pub on the corner is very friendly and only a short walk to the beach.”

“Our double room had the bathroom down the hall, but despite repeated attempts there was no way to shut (or lock) the door from the inside as it was catching badly on the frame. Bath mat in the bathroom wasn't clean. Mirror in the bedroom was leant up against the wall rather than attached, so had to bend over double to use. Small window in the bedroom had no curtain and a light right outside. Noisy room (traffic noise, doorbell of late arriving guests, and could hear upstairs...

“There was no clear indication of how we accessed the property. Despite trying to communicate with the owner, there was no response. We had to just turn up and hope for the best. Luckily, after getting to the pod, the key was there and the stay was good. It has everything you need and is in a great location. ”

“Our room had a view of the castle, and was pleasantly spacious. The busy road in front, with a narrow pavement, was less ideal. Still well worth the trouble, and it would have been easier had we arrived before dark.”
