Charming hotel right in Old Colonia, walking distance to everything. Our room was lovely, on the garden level, very quiet, large room. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend staying here.

Comfy stay in Historic Colonia

Decoded to come to Colonia for an overnight trip from Buenos Aires and so glad we did!! Quaint hotel that has rooms around a gorgeous central courtyard and efficient use of space. Bathrooms we clean and gorgeously created from a historic building. Rooms were ready early by a few hours. Continental breakfast was good with a second story view of the river. Also guests get a discount at their sister hotel on the river

Perfect weekend stay during Summer weekend

What an amazing treasure to be able to stay in a 17th century building restoration. The staff were great and very knowledgeable in their recommendations. We ate lunch and dinner at Charco. Remember to use your 10% discount and a credit card for your 18% discount from the Uruguayan government.

A-MAZ-ING. Unfortunately, we only stayed for one night. I could easily have stayed 2-3 nights. The room is on the small size, but comfortable, quiet, clean and beautiful. The hotel is beautiful and the staff were so friendly. We walked ten blocks from the ferry terminal (about 1km) and easily found the hotel. Many food options nearby. We had a lovely lunch at Bohemia and delcious Mexican food for dinner at a small shop!

A super cool property, amazing history. Most of the staff were incredibly hospitable. Great vegan recommendations. A couple at the front desk were less friendly and awkward. For example, I asked about the property's history and the woman didn't like talking to me about it and actually texted her boss while we were talking who came over and made up an excuse for her to leave, lied and said that he was her husband, all of that so she wouldn't have to talk to me about the history of the hotel. It was awkward. But the other staff members are so nice that it made up for it. And the building is super cool and the whole street that it's on is amazing. You can take pictures forever

Lovely and steeped in history!

My stay at Posada Plaza Mayor was absolutely lovely!  It looked exactly as on their website and on Hotels.com, which is how I booked.  I visited Colonia from Buenos Aires, where I’m staying for several weeks.  I know that many people do Colonia as a daytrip from BA, but I’m so glad that I chose to spend the night.  Posada Plaza Mayor takes you back in time to help you really feel the history of Colonia.  They have done a wonderful job in updating the hotel to make it modern, while keeping many elements of the original building for its charm.  The bathroom is totally modern.  Great toiletries. The breakfast was upstairs with a view of the river.

Very nice Hotel in old town

Hotel experience was very nice. Very nice old boutique just renovated. Hotel stuff was helpful and friendly. I was booked one night but booked one night More right away when I did arrival there. Nice small in coyrtyard where I did do some Works with laptop. Breakfirst was very good what did need to order from a list. Breakfirst was at other hotel /restaurant whit nice sea view, you need to walk there 3 minutes. But was not a problem.

This hotel was beautiful! Nestled in the center of the old district the building was beautiful and the rooms well laid out and decorated. The breakfast was lovely (but we wished we had eggs). Would definitely stay there again!

Sfeervol hotel in oude stad

Prachtig oud gebouw, fantastisch gelegen in centrum oude stad (daar waar alle toeristen voor komen), uitstekend bed, prima douche en goed ontbijt met uitzicht. Veel restaurants in de omgeving. We waren er een nacht, met Ferry over vanuit BA, dat was lang genoeg.
