Cozumel, Quintana Roo hotel rooms at the El Cid

"This hotel is not as bad as some people reviews it, but I do have to say it needs major updates. The AC is bad, 9th floor the lowest it went was 21.5C and they gave me a second room and was same. Plus there was a couple of roaches. They cut the water twice while we were showering without announcing it. Food was fine to us, servers specially in the italian restaurant seems tired and very mean specially the younger ones. I would like to give a big shoutout to Andrea at front desk and to Jose Juan at the Cruceros bar. Yolanda at the breakfast grill. Thank you guys. Entertainment is boring, how is it that we’re in MEXICO and the music is in English? Come on! This is sad! Where did they lose their culture ? i went a few years ago nothing like this time. I love the views and the food mainly but if there’s no major updates no one is going back. "

"I know opinions vary by people. As for me, I'm a minimalist person. Not fussy about much, not wanting to be pampered. I don't inspect my room upon arrival. I eat whatever is on my plate. I don't want to complain about much unless it has to do with a safety issue. So if this is you, the Allegro is a fabulous resort. I've stayed there about 12 times, switching back and forth with another in the same area. Rooms are clean and comfy. AC works great, there's always hot water, the mini fridge is stocked. The food is fantastic, both buffet and the specialty restaurants. Some people are picking about what they eat.. not my story, I just enjoy it. I go mainly for scuba diving. They have a really good dive operation right on the property. Some of the boats are aged, but the staff is wonderful and will ensure you have a good time. I'm also a scuba instructor (retired), so I may see what others might not. I have no gripes with how things are done. I just enjoy my dives. The amenities are excellent, if you enjoy packing your vacation full of activities. I cannot remark on the nightly entertainment as I generally enjoy a quiet evening with a good movie. The property is older and aged, but that is where the charm is. I'm not looking for a palace for vacation, but a bungalow to relax in and enjoy."

"Took my wife, 2 year old daughter and mother in law. Had adjoining rooms, perfect set up to let us come in and out of baby was asleep in ext room over and not make noise to wake her. We absolutely loved it. If you’re looking for the party vibe, crowd, spring break- this ain’t it. Very chill, relax setting, amazing service, clean grounds, beautiful sandy beach. We upgraded to the level service( do it), great food!!! Plan to come back ASAP Concierge Gerardo was on top of it ! Clear communication, eager to assist in any way he could. All the servers were fantastic, our regular became Guadalupe, sweet lady, consistent attention made sure we were set. Amazing place"

"We stayed in one of the oceanfront jacuzzi suites. Our view was incredible! The bed was comfortable and there was a small fridge. The hotel provides bottled water and we had breakfast included which was a hot breakfast, eggs/sausage plus yogurt and fruit. I can’t say enough good things about this wonderful small hotel. The staff was amazing, went above and beyond to make sure we felt at home. We will definitely be back!"

"If you're expecting the traditional all inclusive with the party vibe and things to do, this is not your place. Felt like just being at a hotel. "

"The friendliness, attentiveness and overall good vibes from the staff were likely the highlight of the trip. Breakfast buffet was great, lunch options by the pool were outstanding, especially Maria’s tacos and quesadillas, those were probably the best food we had during our stay! Unfortunately, dinner was not great and there’s room for improvement there in terms of quality and variety."
