"We travelled in mid-September. After viewing the photos when booking, I mistakenly thought the guesthouse was in close proximity to the falls. It is actually 25 minutes from Dettifoss. It is north of the falls so it is positioned well for Asbyrgi Canyon. Don’t judge the accommodations from your initial take of the outside. The amenities are great - kitchen is well stocked, great eating area and the bathrooms are newly remodeled. We would definitely go back again."

"This was a great find and we really enjoyed our stay of one evening. I was travelling with my partner, it was easy to find. Friendly, welcoming staff that greeted us for our check in. If you’re going to be late for your check in, let them know in advance and I’m sure they can accommodate you with easy instructions. Our room was comfortable, private bathroom is always a plus. They offer breakfast but it’s not included. This stay is great for solo travellers, partners and even families from what I saw. There aren’t really any dining options around that I noticed, the property is kind of tucked away but there is a communal kitchen, cozy communal lounge rooms, good views, I think I noticed a ping pong table and in the back there is a fun little playground for children and there’s even a trampoline! It was a great stay and I recommend to anyone that is considering. Thank you Hotel Skulagardur for the wonderful stay!"

"The little guy was so cute and exactly as advertised. Check in was fast and easy. The shared shower and toilet block wasn’t as far away as I thought. It was all very clean and always available when needed. Great view from the hut too."
