"This hotel does not have an elevator but the staff were more than willing to carry our bags upstairs for us. The restaurant was very busy with locals as well as travellers. The food was very good. It is also across the street from Tesco if you need to pick up anything."

"Very convenient to Scrabster Ferry to Orkney. Unfortunately the owner charged all our rooms to the credit card of the one making the reservations & wouldn’t reverse the charges causing a bit of accounting inconvenience. Otherwise staff is good-working hard. The place has character of an old manor. Clean-rooms dated & vary a bit in degree of size & comfort. Restaurant decent-not a wide range of menu choices. Entertainment at night but too late in evening for us after touring. Breakfast was average-no pastries. No extras such as meat, cheese & rolls. Nondescript generic brand cereals. Acceptable but th money issue turned us off."

"The room was small but immaculately clean. It was ideal for a one night stay. I met Peter, the owner, and he was very helpful with regards getting about and recommending local places to eat. There was ample parking outside too. Whilst the other guests weren’t in any way noisy, unfortunately the walls are very thin and I could hear the slightest noise very clearly."

"This was expensive for what it was but I guess there are a lot of tourists in Orkney and not a lot of accommodation! Over £200 a night for a small room, double bed (not king). The rate did include breakfast, which was adequate (order from list the night before). The hotel did have a restaurant - food was fine - and a bar and friendly barman. Staff were lovely altogether. I have never been to Orkney before so can’t make any comparisons but I suspect this may be among the better places to stay. Lots of room to park the car. Sea view."

"Staff during meals, especially breakfast when I was last one in, were awesome and so friendly. Two young ladies, one with baby due at Christmas, couldn’t have been more helpful. Lovely breakfast, lots of choice even at 9am. The lads on duty in the evening were also lovely, but service was rather slow even before coach full of Australians arrived."
