Great place to stay, very central to the town, staff were very pleasant and helpful, our room was clean and quite spacious.
So all in all, we had a pleasant stay, at the Argyll, and would visit it again A
I will start positive: the team at the hotel could not have been more friendly and helpful. They tried to help me every way possible and helped me change rooms when the first was not suitable. I was travelling alone with a 4 month baby and I appreciate every effort that was made. Thank you so much team argyle.
Please be aware the hotel does not have cots as advertised but once moved to a family room I was able to improvise with the spare bed. Again thank you to the team for moving me so quickly and helping.
The less positive: the hotel is old and desperate for modernisation and general improvement. The shower was a dribble and holder was broken so grateful a bath was still an option. Beds are not comfortable (at least mine was not). The towel rail worked which was a plus.
Options are limited in Dunoon and if it wasn’t for the brilliant team I would rate poor.

Just a short stay
Very friendly staff the hotel is dated and needs updating but after saying that it is a old building and is tight in the centre of town
Another great stay at this friendly hotel, Cowal games weekend, great place, the people & surrounding businesses are all very helpful & friendly, we love this place, feels like our second home. The Argyll Hotel has always been our choice of place to stay, staff are great & very accommodating, rooms are lovely & the restaurants within hotel are fantastic. Hotel is very central for everywhere in Dunoon, always had a great experience here & will definitely be back soon
Lovely staff and clean room but property is outdated.

Rooms a bit dated rooms clean carpets need to changed in the rooms
Food good staff very helpful
Rest of the hotel was very clean
Floors very creaky could hear everything above but it is old building
Ok for a night stay
We had a twin room with a view of the sea and it was clean enough. There was black mould on the window frame. However the TV had no signal and although there was a telephone there was nothing to plug it into. We complained and they moved us to a lovely family room. No sea view but the staff were very helpful and kind

Old-fashioned hotel in the centre of town
The hotel is conveniently located for the ferry terminal, shops and restaurants. The staff at reception, in the restaurant and the bar were all helpful and friendly. Breakfast was plentiful although the quality of cooked food was average. The food in the Rio restaurant was fine but the service was extremely slow - also there was no red Italian wine on the menu at a restaurant that describes itself as Italian (??). Our room was clean (apart from some mould in the shower) and over-furnished with slightly rickety furniture - the bed was not very comfortable, with very noisy mattress springs. Overall we had a pretty good stay.
Perfect location. This hotel has the potential to be perfect but sadly it’s not. Old, dated and not very clean.
Room was huge but didn’t feel or look clean. Shower had empty bottle from previous resident left in the corner. Shower didn’t drain very well leaving you feeling like you may flood the bathroom.
Check in was easy and the staff nice.
Let’s start with what we liked. The Indian meal was tasty. The waiters were pleasant and attentive. The bedlinen was clean. Now for the dislikes. Besides the dining areas the hotel is very shabby. We were in room 327 which appeared to be even more so with wallpaper coming off the walls, damp patches, cracked tiles and overall very, very tired. Very few people appeared to be staying but all of us were put on the top floor. One would think the management might think to put the few guests they are having into the best rooms available. The hotel is very expensive for what it provides. Take my advice and stay elsewhere.
