"What a lovely experience. Fairway Guesthouse was sublimely superb. As a location with an absolutely stunning view of the golf course overlooking the sea and Durban cityscapes, as well as the absolutely wonderful friendly service, that simply made us feel home away from home. The continental breakfasts were yummy and different - croissants with scrambled eggs and bacon and we even got home made flapjacks!!! Our suites were so luxurious and well appointed, with secure garden parking that our...

"We had a great stay 10/10. The property is positioned greatly. The room was nice and each balcony had gas grill for braai. They have all you need on site but there are restaurants close in walking distance and a checkers less than 5 minutes away. The staff is great. I’d like to specifically thank Sandra for finding an additional night for us when it became available. We stayed for New Year’s Eve and the fire works were amazing. They put on quite a show for the guest. All of our food and drinks...

"The lodge is well located in the Hillcrest area, close to the Main Road with it's shops and restaurants. Bev the hostess was very welcoming and seemed prepared to go out of her way to assist her guests. The breakfast in the morning was varied and good. The room, while on the small side, was adequately furnished with a comfortable bed.
There were a number of small items which detracted from my stay. Single ply toilet rolls in the bathroom, a small and well worn towel and shower in which the...

Explore the great outdoors at Japanese Gardens, a lovely green space in Durban North. Stroll along the area's seaside, or simply savor its top-notch restaurants.
Upscale residential streets lead to pristine beaches where you can surf, swim, or watch dolphins play near the shore. Mangrove Beach offers excellent birdwatching, while nearby Umhlanga's Gateway Theatre of Shopping provides entertainment when you need a break from the sun.

Shabby not chìc. Dirty, with mould and dust. Nothing wrong with bedding from Sheet Street, but at the prices per night, not worth it. The pillows are mere suggestions of a pillow, thin as anything.
Cockroaches when the sun goes down. One curtain where two is definitely needed, and worn with some holes. I get that everything can't be new all the time, but it can be clean.
The staff clearly don't know about a guest experience. Yes, it was bin day this morning, but at 7am, expect people are sleeping. Instead of wheeling the bin around for 15 mins from place to place, rather take all the trash to the bin? Talking very loudly amongst each other is also not great so early in the morning. Upon check-in, no towels, had to ask. The cleaning lady saunters in and out without even knocking or announcing what she was doing - definitely not replacing towels or toilet paper. Dirty tupperware standing around, empty sugar packets laying around outside since checking in until departure.
The owner has 3 great danes that is then kept inside in the front room, barking at 6am and throughout the day when guests enter and leave.
Not a place I can recommend. Booked two nights, left promptly at 8am after the first night. This place is not habital. Room 5 specifically. Dunno if the others are better"
"This place was amazing. Clean, beautiful views, quiet area, large rooms. Staff were helpful and friendly and stay out of your way so you can do whatever you want to. The only issue is that the parking can be a bit difficult to manage with a large vehicle."
