Not Safe or Clean! Avoid!
AVOID! This location is not suitable for a female solo traveller. I did not feel safe during my stay, so much so that I made sure I was back in the building before it got dark. Nowhere does it say this is in a back alley with rubbish strew everywhere and a blind spot behind the front door. I felt nervous every time I opened the front door not knowing if someone could be behind it.
Given the homeless problem in Edinburgh and the fact that there was a group that congregated on the alley on the other side of the street, I really think there should be a monitor or window so you can see outside before leaving. Not only was there construction noise during the day due to building works that hadnโt been disclosed - from not one but two sites (the big building adjacent to the apartment and the renovation of the patisserie Valerie who were standing floors til gone 10pm) but there was noise early in the am with bars empty their bottles into the recycling bins which are opposite the flat, in the alley at 7am!
The flat looks like it was nice when first renovated but hasnโt been maintained, there was water damaged on the floor in the kitchen which meant the floor boards had lifted and I actually caught my foot on because the rug didnโt have any non slip matting on it.
One thing I cannot get over is hairs on bedding - I had to lint roll all the bedding to remove numerous black hair. There were also coffee splatters up the walls by the bedside table, the cleaning on changeover is clearly
