“The room had a weird smell to it that was very unpleasant which made our stay uncomfortable the entire time. The sofa bed mattress was filthy. We asked staff for a different room but they said they were sold out and it wouldnt be a room with balcony view so that would be a downgrade. Rooms need to be updated and new furniture is need ASAP.”

“The hotel is known for its views which are wonderful. However, the room was clean, but television was hard to work, sink had no drain catch, and no surface areas in the bathroom to place items. Would have appreciated a coffee pot because no coffee available until 8 AM. ”

“Power went out often on the island, a generator is needed at this property. Out flight was cancelled and we lost a day. I was told we would get credit for that but haven’t received confirmation of that yet. Location is okay, taxi service is a few blocks away, restaurants close. Not sure if I’d return or recommend at this time, still waiting on owner to honor his verbal agreement. But no matter what, a generator is desperately needed to protect a quality experience. ”

“The room was very clean and had great amenities. The staff were incredibly friendly. The space is beautiful and charming. Bartender and Restaurant staff were exceptional and the food was amazing. My only piece of feedback would be to add some lounge chairs near the pool. But next time I come back to St Thomas there is no doubt I’m staying at Hotel 1829! ”

“Air conditioning is defective. Lost power twice. No hair blower, parking is not easy. Only the celiling cools me off. Can't use the tv because had to log in each time. Room per night is overprice and not a standard hotel.”

“What a beautiful place to stay on St. John, a great location with outstanding views. The restaurant was wonderful, we had two outstanding dinners and enjoyed after dinner drinks at the bar each evening. Staff was outstanding, friendly and helpful! We are planning to return in 2027!”
