At first sight, the alley ways of the old city can be a bit overwhelming to someone unfamiliar with the layout of the Fes. However, they were safe to walk and the owner and his brothers were exceptionally helpful in giving us a map and directions. I think the real plus was they had painted signs throughout the maze from every point of interest on how to get back to the city.
