Kildonan House is just lovely, and Tom, the owner, really was the consummate host. Our room was on the first floor, on the left rear. It. Was. Huge! Sparkling clean, comfortable, with a big bathroom and walk in closet. The bed was a "super king" , not just a regular king, and was quite comfortable, as were the pillows. It's very quiet there, and we slept well. Breakfast was nice. Coffee, juices, pastries, yogurts, fruits, that type of thing. I am sure that there was more. I drink lots of coffee and eat yogurt for breakfast, so I didn't really pay attention. Location- it's not right downtown Fort William, but it is easily reached by taxi, or obviously if you have a rental car. You cannot walk to the downtown proper of Fort William from there. There are a few restaurants nearby. Tom recommended a good one, and we kind of got lost along the way, and stumbled upon "the shipwreck " on the lake. It is located in an interesting, safe area, if you want to walk around and get some exercise, or fresh air. The river is right there. Tom really went above and beyond to assist us with bus schedules and information, train schedules, information about Fort William and things to do, places to eat, how to get to Glencoe, he called all over Scotland to find a rental car for us. (Note: get one in Glasgow. There are like 3 total in Fort William). It was a fantastic place to stay. Great price, great accommodations, and great host. We can't wait to go back.
