Hostel Mt. Fuji-FUKUYA

Hostel Mt. Fuji-FUKUYA

10/10 Excellent
"I had a wonderful stay at this hostel and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Machiko, the owner, is such a kind, warm, and lovely person. I arrived later than expected, but she patiently waited for me to arrive, which I really appreciated after a long day of travelling. The location is incredibly peaceful and quiet. It was one of the best nights of sleep I had during my trip to Japan, and it was the perfect place to relax and unwind. I only stayed for one night, but Machiko went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. The next morning, she even prepared breakfast for me, even though it wasn't included in my booking. She also gave me advice on the Mt. Fuji area and shared helpful advice on how to get around, which made my visit much easier. I don't usually write reviews, but this stay truly deserved one. I stayed here in June, and although I'm only getting around to leaving this review now, I wanted to say thank you for such a wonderful experience. If I'm ever back in the area, I would definitely stay here again."

Fujiyama Base

Fujiyama Base

10/10 Excellent
"This was my 2nd time staying here after I adopted the woman who runs the hotel and the shop as my Japan oba last year, I remembered she loves hydrangeas so I stopped in Kamakura at Hasedera to get her a gift before seeing her because her birthday is in June. She's a very sweet and kind woman who doesn't speak English but is totally fine having conversations with translation apps. The property itself is in a great location right across from Mt. Fuji Station so it's easy to get to by bus or train from other areas, and has so many different things to do in the area. I stayed in a tatami room again which I enjoyed. I highly recommend renting a bicycle in the area as well to see more of fujiyoshida and lake kawaguchiko."

Hotel Fuji Tatsugaoka

Hotel Fuji Tatsugaoka

8/10 Good
"I stayed at Hotel Fuji Tatsugaoka for two nights in early 2026 as a base for visiting Fuji-Q Highland and exploring the Fuji Five Lakes area. Overall, it was a very satisfying stay. 10 min. Walking distace from the park. Room was clean, small but this is typical from japan so it was not a problem, onsen was nice and relaxing after walking all day. Got a nice view to Mt. Fuji which luckily i had a clear view. Staff were genuinely friendly and helpful check in and check out was quick and without trouble. If i come back surely ill book again."

Hostel Saruya

Hostel Saruya

10/10 Excellent
"A beautiful property. Traditional Japanese with a boutique feel. Very comfortable and clean. We received a spacious room with 2 beds. The room has a seating area with sofa. Note that the bathroom is shared with others but we never had any problem with availability or location. The kitchen is equipped with coffee maker, tea kettle, a few pots and plates as well as a small oven and microwave and fridge. We used the kitchen for small meals. The location is very walkable and right opposite the spot where tourists camp out to take photos of Fujisan but our stay was very quiet as the house was tucked back from the lobby area. It is a very convenient location to the Pagoda (25 mins walk) and the shrine at the trailhead of Mt. Fuji (about 20-30 mins walk). We walked everywhere but the hotel has a bicycle rental service as well (very reasonable at 500 jpy). We would definitely return to stay with this hostel again"
