This spot along the road is named John Ford Point, after the director who used it as a location for numerous Western films. Visitors can pay a few dollars to a local horse owner who is stationed in the parking lot to recreate the famous image of a horse rider perched on the edge of the plateau. This horse was aptly named “Pistol”.
