This hotel is clearly old—felt like it was built in the 60s or 70s and hasn’t had a major renovation since. Positives: The staff were all very helpful and polite. Checking in was super easy as was checking out and leaving/collecting our bags with the front desk. The onsen was nice and clean. The breakfast buffet was good with western and eastern variety of foods. Negatives: The hallways and overall building were somewhat dingy. The hotel allows (or used to and still smells of) smoking. Breakfast is from 7am-8:30, so a pretty tight window during vacation. Neutral The hotel is about a ten minute walk from the town/train station.

This place is exceptional. I had a traditional Japanese room which was amazing. The Onsen experience is a must. And the gastronmic dinner Kaiseki was one of the best meal of my life that gave me a full experience on Japanese gastronomy.

This hotel was not worth the amount we paid. We loved Hakone but wouldn’t recommend staying here - the area has better places. Rooms were huge but consequently seemed too large to clean properly. Urine was at the back of the toilet, the bathroom smelt odd (likely the old pee stains), lamps were dusty, stains were on walls and on furniture, hairs were down the side of the bed and the edges of the rooms and hallways were not cleaned. The hallways smelt, a combination of damp and old smoke with tired, worn looking carpets and walls. The room with a ‘river view’ included a view of a multi-story car park. Breakfast time was limited to about 1.5 hours which felt too restrictive. The food was of okay quality and worth including. Evening dinner was good to try but a lack of accommodation for preferences and allergies meant we’d not recommend for everyone.

Lovely hotel, and the staff were lovely and helpful. The whole place was very clean and tidy with plenty of amenities. The private Onsen was easy to book but at night there is a lot of bugs! I wish the breakfast had been warm as food such as the eggs and bacon were room temperature and not kept hot. Also the river view was obstructed by trees. Other than this I had a lovely stay.

My family and I have just finished our stay at Hakone Pax Yoshino. The service by employees was good, the onsen was ok, but not clean. I saw a death big cockroach and when I tried to notify the cleaning lady on site she ignored me completely. Dinner and breakfast were good but lack of explanation about the menu and the different dishes served. I cannot recommend the hotel in its current condition. The hotel is very very dirty, which makes everything else less comfortable and enjoyable. All of the floors are stained, so much of the furniture is stained and dirty, it is gross. The first room we received smelled like urine and there was urine marks on the walls of the bathroom. The sinks had mold, and the rooms smelled musty. It is not up to Japanese standards. I hope the hotel Manager review this posting and do something about it.

Dated hotel but the room was beautiful and spotless. The staff were nice but we were SO disappointed at check out when we asked them to store our bags for a few hours and they said no, as it was maintenance day. Having spent over £400 on 2 night’s accommodation, I was really upset my this. It’s an enormous hotel with so much space to have stored our luggage. It really spoiled our last day in Japan

Respectuous, friendly and ready to help. The onsen was a great experience. We had a great time and highly recommend this hotel.
