Lovely relaxed stay at small and friendly hotel. Great for small children with play room, toys, pool table etc. Bus.stop stop outside for links to lake and other transport around hakone. Japanese breakfast was beautifully presented and tasty .

We enjoyed our time here more than I could’ve expected. We had a huge travel day and got in late but ended our travel day in the onsen and had a very comfortable sleep. The staff are incredible and go above and beyond. Excellent experience!

Bus stop right out front and convenient to the ropeway stop. Beat the crowds and go clockwise (ship, ropeway, then cable car). Black eggs stop worth it. Need cash if not using the H or K buses. Hakone pass was worth it as it covered the ferry, ropeway, cable car and H and K busses. The private onsen was really good after a day out. You book it for an hour and is included in your booking. Room #1 has its own shower, others use the onsen showers.

The hotel was relaxing, onsen was amazing, dinner was a limited menu but good. The secenery was stunning. The staff were hard to find at times, overall I would definitely come back.

Great place for the price. Step up from a hostel that works well for families and has a really nice Onsen for private use. Breakfast was also really nice! Service was also very friendly and helpful. Downsides are the location and the lack of shower in rooms.

Friendly staff, amazing onsen, and the Japanese-style room was beautiful. It’s a little far from everything, but if you’re willing to take the bus, the stop is right in front making it super convenient. Such a peaceful, relaxing stay. Would definitely come back.

We stayed 1 night and throughly enjoyed our time. We wish we had stayed longer. We arrived at the property after spending the day exploring Hakone. We had taken the pirate ship across Lake Ashi and then took a bus to the stop right outside the ryokan. We were instructed to remove our shoes and don the provided slippers. The staff warmly greeted us and confirmed our onsen time which we had scheduled the day before. We booked ours for after dinner. We were led to our room which was a very clean traditional Japanese room with tatami. There was also a tv and a patio which was nice! Dinner was not included but it wasn’t too expensive, and it was delicious! I know some ryokan you eat in your room, but I liked that they had a separate dining room. The view outside was all forested so it made for a nice backdrop for our meals. The open air onsen was wonderful and was nice and hot. There are also showers for washing before you enter the onsen. There are no showers in the rooms so we just used the onsen shower during our time slot. The futons in the room were very comfortable and it was the best night of sleep I had on our entire trip. We woke to our amazing kaiseki breakfast ready in the dining room, which was very nutritious and gave us the energy to hike all day. In all we would 100% stay here again. We loved the whole experience and it felt like a true traveler’s inn. Bonus points for Ice, the adorable kitty manager!

We loved our stay at YuYu Onsen hotel. The staff were extremely polite and hospitable. Thoroughly enjoyed the Japanese breakfast experience and recommend you try it. The booking comes with a 50 min private onsen experience which was thoroughly enjoyable in the evening after a busy day of site seeing. The location even though feels remote and away from shops and amenities (we had no car) is served by bus service ( look up the J number buses). They will drop you right in front of YuYu onsen. I booked based on price and had reservations about how isolated this location was but I need not have worried. The remote location and the surrounding woods only enhanced our experience. Highly recommend this place to anyone planning on visiting Hakone and once again I’m thankful to all the staff that made us feel so comfortable and welcomed. ❤️

The property is right up next to the mountain,and will need to drive or make use of the Uzi Bus system to get to the locality ,but this makes it very unique.
