"The hotel is very nice, the rooms are a little small but nice. It's centered in a high class area with plenty of shopping. The breakfast was fair, we stayed for 2 weeks and the breakfast menu didn't change at all and the food wasn't hot barely warm."

The Royal Park Hotel Iconic Tokyo Shiodome

"Just returned from a 10 day trip to Japan and spent our last night at the Royal Park Shiodome. It was the perfect place to spend our last night. The views from the hotel are incredible so get a room on as high of a floor as possible (we were on 31 and had a great view of the city—specifically, the Shiodome and Minato districts with the canal running through). It’s also in a very convenient location and within walking distance of several trains. 8-9 min walk to Gion and also a 24-hour Don Quijote. :) Family Mart and 7-Eleven are both conveniently a block or two away. It’s a well maintained property and we thought the room was more spacious than your average Tokyo hotel rooms. Very clean too. My only negative was the service at the bar was unprofessional. We sat down around 10:45 to have a drink because the bar doesn’t close until midnight and we wanted to enjoy a drink on our last night while looking at the beautiful views. The staff clearly wanted to close early and kept trying to rush us out, including trying to take a half-full drink we just paid $24 for. There was also a typhoon expected overnight but not a single staff member at the hotel seemed to have any idea about it (or much else)—it was very strange. At a nicer hotel, staff shouldn’t seem so dumbfounded at every single question, including how to get to the airport. Overall though, it’s a great property and we had a nice stay!"

"The Park Hotel Tokyo perches satisfyingly high on top of a skyscraper, offering excellent views out across Tokyo's cityscape and, inside, a beautifully tall central atrium. It is at Shiodome station on the Yurikamome and Oedo public transport lines, and is a short walk from the extremely well-connected Shimbashi Station (you can do the whole walk to Shimbashi in a pleasant underground shopping concourse, if the rain or the sunlight is too strong). A konbini and some local restaurants are located directly underneath the hotel, and the local area has many more of both, plus some pharmacies. The Hama-rikyū Gardens right next door to the hotel are a beautiful and calm space with a low ticket price, and make for a pretty good way to begin a visit to Tokyo. I found the staff very helpful. They spoke English and were gracious about my attempts at Japanese. The breakfast was good although, like any hotel breakfast, you can feed yourself for cheaper if you're willing to leave the building. My room was very clean and well-presented. You pay for all this in two main areas: price, obviously, and--less obviously--room size. The rooms aren't tiny, but I think you can find bigger spaces for less money (albeit with worse views) if you look. Now, I hold the view that hotel rooms are for sleeping and the rest of the time I'll spend out seeing things, but if you plan to spend long spells in your room during your stay in Tokyo, that's a caveat to bear in mind."
