Staff were amazing and very helpful, the breakfast was outstanding only snag we had was the water pressure in the shower was poor, but overall a comfy relaxing stay with good food .

Stamford gate hotel

Staff were very helpful and friendly. It was sunday and the kitchen shut ar 6 and the bar closed nearly which wasn't very good with beinb a solo traveller and no transport. Otherwise I couldn't fault it.

Good hotel based in nice location

This is very good basic hotel with all the facilities, bit tired around the edges in the in the rooms and lobby areas. Food was excellent as was the service from the staff

Lovely hotel - well worth a visit.

We had a lovely stay, all the staff were very friendly without being intrusive. We spoke to the manager who was very helpful. The food was well presented and good value.

Warm friendly welcome, gorgeous bar with log burning fires creating an inviting experience on a wet autumn day. Evening meal was excellent as was our breakfast. Rooms bit dated and we unfortunately had a noisy front room onto a busy main road which did keep us awake a bit during the night.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was good and the room was good enough for a nights stay. Probably couldn't do more than 1 night, as beds and pillows were not particularly comfortable and the room was a little noisy, as the floor boards above were very creaky so heard the other guests walking around in their room until the early hours, so didn't get much sleep.

Overall happy with our 1 night stay

We stayed for one night while visiting Wales. The check in experience was fine and staff friendly. The room was OK - we could hear sounds from other rooms in the morning and the bathroom had mould spots near bath taps, but other than that it was clean and pretty comfortable. Restaurant looked really nice which I guess is the reason why almost all the photos are of the restaurant. English breakfast tasted good! Thank you.

There is a big difference between the hotel and the pub area. The hotel needs an uplift from the 1950s feel. The view from the far end of the bar over the River Dee is stunning. The reception area is unmanned, dark, eerie in it's atmosphere. One reception ist was eating a meal in reception They serve an excellent NZ SB in the bar and the food was v good. Ample osrking A way out of the town ip the hill.

Tired, run down

Helpful staff in a tired, run down hotel. The place has a very odd smell throughout and door locks on my room and at least one other didn't work, with no other security mechanisms. The bed in my room was uncomfortable with what felt like a poor quality mattress and the shower curtain in the bathroom smelled very off. The hotel is clean and tidy with a pub/restaurant attached. I won't be returning.

Fantastic stay!

We checked in at about 8:15pm (we rang to check this was ok as it was quite late), and were met by a lovely am. Who carried our cases to our room. This was such a friendly way to be met when we had been busy all day. He gave us all the information we needed to be settled and we let him know what time we would be down for breakfast. The beds were really comfortable and the room equipped with and good size TV, towels and tea, coffee and biscuits. There were other extras that were helpful too, such as a hairdryer and an extension lead for extra electricals. We went down to breakfast in the morning to be treated with really friendly staff again and a plentiful breakfast - a full English (with produce sourced from the local butcher) cooked to order and there was also a good range of cereals, jams and toast. We loved our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to come back!
