The room was adequate. I’d say overpriced but it’s NYC. The signs at check in did not give much confidence in the safety of the property or the neighborhood. First, there was a sign demanding $60 cash deposit, no exceptions. Fortunately, I was not asked: I do not give cash deposits at hotels I’ve reserved with credit card—but I wondered immediately what kind of place I’d booked. Second, the signs announcing “no prostitution will be tolerated,” far from giving me confidence, made me wonder if I’d made a huge mistake. The hotel would be smart to discretely ask people to sign something at check-in acknowledging these policies rather than scaring the living daylights out of people upon arrival with big signs.
