It was brilliant to see where "Dirty Dancing" was filmed, very atmospheric and a great challenging walk round the lake bed.

Room was mediocre for the price. Building seemed worn out. Grounds very slippery when wet weather arrived. Staff in hotel were nice. Charge resort fee which includes pool but pool wasn’t open, maybe a reduced fee if facilities aren’t available. Would not stay here again unfortunately.

C'était un rêve depuis quelques temps j'ai toujours dit que j'y aurais été ! Ancien lieu de tournage d un immense film à succès ! C était à la fois bizarre et incroyable de voir se lieu ! Dommage que le temps ne s'y soit pas prêter et que le lac ne soit pas présent

OK, totally came for the Dirty Dancing experience, so I am a little biased. But the staff is AMAZING (reception and dining. Room is quaint, but clean and the toiletries smell great. FYI I had read a review that there were no TVs, so we all had books, but if I didnt know that in advance, I may have been irritated so I am putting it in my review so you arent surprised. All in all, very happy to check this off my bucket list, and would recommend to anyone who loves Dirty Dancing!!

Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Room was small but very clean and tidy. We missed not having a TV in the room though. It was awesome to see all the spots where Dirty Dancing was filmed!!

Nice historic property. The bar was great and bartender was very friendly. It was interesting to read all the trivia signs about Dirty Dancing and seeing the locations.

It is looking run down. The rooms have no TVs or mini fridges and I didn't care for the food choices and the service was awful! Windows filthy... unappetizing looking out filthy bird poop/spiders etc. Ground and view decent/nice and the markers for Dirty Dancing but they underplay it, not marked on their map at all and I could never find this mysterious "memorabilia" room. They never told us about it. Nothing to do but hike. That was it. Bored to death. They charge a resort fee for what amenities I wonder??? Watered down drinks. Obviously nothing in the area. A covered bridge 7 miles down the road was it. Go up, see it quickly and leave. Stay in Roanoake etc.

In the guide we have several pages of activities on the property: skeet shooting, history gator tours to the gorgeous overlooks, two escape rooms, guided hikes on our 22 miles of trails, treetops adventure course...Please let us know if there was a specific activity that you were looking for that we did not have available. Much better than expected. Lodge had tv and air con and wi fi was free and good. Lovely surroundings, 2 fab pools, nice bar and restaurant. Would definitely stay again. Its a lovely hotel whether you like dirty dancing or not

Très bel endroit comme dans le film Dirty dancing . Idéal pour les amateurs . Installations très belles dommage que le lac soit sec , on ne le savait pas . Nourriture très bonne mais le menu n est pas à jour car pour le matin c ´ est un buffet et non pas à la carte

All of the parking by the registration was marked "Fire Lane - no parking". So not clear you could park there to offload luggage. There are lots of nice trails for hiking around the lake and up the hills for a great view over the valley.

Mountain trip
Excellent relaxing place. Not tv or air conditioning but it is cool in the mountains at night and not needed. A layed back place to relax and enjoy great food.

Dear Whomever, I was a little disappointed when we booked we were not told about the cabins. There was no air which ended up not a problem, no refrigerator or tv. Could not go in the barn. There were not no activities on the two days we were there. I think you all should have more information on your website about these things. The food in the restaurant was a little high. We did try to find things to do. Thank you Christy

Chestnut Lodge
The mountain resort has lots of activities for a lengthy stay. We were only passing through for one night, however. We stayed in the Chestnut Lodge. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. We loved the cozy feel. Be forwarned that the rooms in the Chestnut Lodge do not have air conditioning. Our room did cool off nicely with the windows and doors open to let the breeze in. All of the doors and windows had screens for that purpose. It was a comfortable brief stay. We would visit again.

Of course i went there because of Dirty Dancing being filmed there. I was surprised at the condition of our room. Hair was everywhere, a cotton ball type thing was on floor. Very noticeable. Plastic tags that hold price tags on clothes on floor. Bathroom smelled like mildew and urine. Bartender at pub was in back eating while 4 different guests waited a while to order. He came out of back chewing food. He also played with a dog and did not wash his hands before he got fruit to put on drinks. His store and pour containers were disgusting. Looked like they had not been washed in a long time. He acted like we were a inconvenience. The looks we received when we walked into the Harvest dining room to take pics for scavenger hunt was less than welcoming. Very shocked at the whole situation. It was not worth what we paid.

It was just okay. Light bulbs out and hairdryer did not work. Confusion about check in at front desk was not fun and I was told to come back next day to check in for same room I was staying in. Also irritating was a pillow missing a case on the bed. All in all could use some work. Staff is pleasant and tries.

Wonderful old hotel up in the mountains, very quiet and peaceful. Rooms are small and old but from a different era. No tv or usual extras you get but it’s all about being outdoors. Hotel Wi-Fi excellent as no signal up here. A great experience to see how it used to be. A nice change.

A nice one-night stay after hiking. Our first time at this property. It was smaller than I imagined, but our small room was comfortable and our dinner at the dining room delicious. Suggestion: Split a dinner selection. We left food on our plate.

Fall stay in the mountains of SW Va
What a fantastic place. Staff is very friendly, even with the place sold out, lines were minimal for a everything we did on site, to include check in. Room exceeded our expectations, in room fireplace was a nice touch, on a cool evening. Fall colors were also great, not quite the peak yet, but they created great scenery.
