If you’re looking to stay anywhere near Barmouth, you should be staying here.
There’s only one thing that might put you off and that's the hill from the seafront. However, that means you get great views over the estuary, and if you don't fancy the walk or drive, a local taxi is available.
The list of reasons you’d want to stay here, though, is considerable. The thing that takes this place to another level is your hosts; David and Heather. Nothing is too much trouble to make your stay perfect and their local knowledge is extensive. On arrival we were given a tour of the house and we mentioned that one reason for staying was to climb Snowdon. David provided us with daily mountain weather forecasts from the Met Office, gave advice on trails, and loaned us an OS map of the area and a waterproof holder. We spent a while chatting to both David and Heather and found them to be really lovely people, more interested in making sure people had a great time than just running a business.
Beyond the hosts, the rooms are clean and comfortable with good showers. Breakfast each morning is part cereal buffet, part cooked to order, with a great view of the estuary and of the local wildlife visiting the bird feeder. The guest house has a lounge area, stocked with books and games, as well as a small bar. The whole guest house is well kept and I am certain we will return.
One tip for anyone staying; spend some time in the lounge and read the Theta Bear books. We very much enjoyed them!
