The property was clean out front and very well groomed. I've been in the rooms before both the tower & the historic side. Plumbing needed badly on the historic side and the tower shades are shabby but the beds were extremely comfortable. I was unable to stay because some maid said I was smoking in the room because I was picking up butts in the garden -no ash tray, and putting them in the room garbage can, (I am sure it did stink), and I got put on the do not rent list. Even after I had to change rooms over the plumbing and I heard some people in the room that I left that went through the window, so they were thrown out. So, long story, I won't ever go back because they said I couldn't - over some other peoples bs.

Amazing stay, definitely gives the “Historic” feel as it is a Historic Site. Clean rooms and amazing selection of eating and shopping. Town center is down the street and easy access to freeways. Definitely a place to consider if going to Santa Maria!

Rarely use Expedia but this was a last minute booking. Prices in the area are ludicrous so I opted for the “Historic Hotel” option. It was $25 cheaper on the hotel website on the day of my stay but I booked the night before to ensure I had a room. Appears that I got the absolute worst room in the “historic section” of the hotel and it was like staying in a 1970’s flop house. Sad, dated depressing room with a view that made me feel like I was locked up in a psychiatric ward. I didn’t have the patience at midnight to complain and move my room since it appears they are all furnished with aging beat up colonial chic knockoffs from the local thrift store. Santa Maria leaves little to be desired and the hotel is on a sad strip of 1950’s motels and mid century dilapidated diners. Fork out an extra fifty bucks and stay at the Hilton Garden Inn. Historic hotels don’t always mean luxury unless you are booking a Bonvoy Autograph Collection. Great location for American Horror Story.

So when we went into our. Room there was a cart from where the. Workers had their equipment and looks like they were still patching and working on the room and. There was outlets they didn’t work so kind of hard to charge our devices

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay but, for the suggestion box, would love to see some towel bars in the bathrooms. Two hooks on the back of the door is fine but there’s nowhere to hang washcloths or hand towels.

It is a historic place, 100 years old, and felt a little run down. Uneven floors, poorly fitting doors to let light and sound in. It was clean and the staff was courteous.

Really run down, dirty pool and hot tub, horrible bar service unless you’re a local it appeared. Front desk staff was amazing and helpful though.

Staff was fine. Room was clean, but smelled like mold grew in the air conditioning. Food in restaurant was very good. The musty smell in the room really bothered me. Otherwise it was fine.

Looking for a vending machine In early morning hours was rudely accosted by a manager asking If I was lost. He asked for my room key and I showed It to him. Dogs barking In the room next to me. Called the front desk and got an attitude about It. (Pet but not people friendly) Employees at the desk seemed to have attitudes. Won't be back

Our room was beautiful and we loved having a crib for our little one to sleep in during our stay. That was a huge plus along with the living room attached to our room and it wasn't even a suite. The walls are paper thin so that was the biggest downfall. We stayed the night on a Saturday so the upstair neighbors were up making a lot of noise until pretty late but thankfully our kids slept through. The beds are kind of stiff but we will definitely stay again based on all the other pluses I've stated. Pros definitely outweighed the Cons. It's a nice family friendly hotel.

We just checked in, had a fabulous dinner in the on site restaurant, 'the Century'? Room was simple and perfect in the old part of the hotel. I wish I had known of this gem when we lived in the area years ago! Amy, our service, was perfect!!

This is the second time we've stayed here, and we were just as pleased this time as last regarding the room, the service, the quiet (even with what appeared to be a full house, judging from the parking lot), and accessibility to restaurants.

Beautiful historic Inn, run by super friendly helpful staff and filled with stunning antiques and gems in every corner. The fire places were cosy and fun. We sat in jacuzzi under the stars. The restaurant food was wonderful. What a special place to spend the night!
