“I arrived just after 8pm and was personally and kindly welcomed to The Old School House. After a long day’s walk, I was offered a drink, which was much appreciated. My bags were taken to my room, and I was given a tour of the property.Breakfast was homely and delicious, and I enjoyed meeting some lovely fellow guests. The place was immaculate, and the hosts were absolutely charming.I would definitely stay again and it was just what I needed after a 30-mile walk! ”

“A beautiful, rural retreat. Wonderful facilities, extremely clean and homely. Comfortable bed with lots of in room extras, like home made shortbread, fresh milk with a mini fridge to store it in, lovely toiletries and a modern bathroom. Breakfast was freshly cooked using local produce, hence the brilliant taste.
Excellent hosts who were so helpful, kind and genuinely interested and keen to assist and make our stay as nice as possible.

“Fabulous boutique-feel hotel in the middle of Hexham opposite the park. Delightful staff and great bar that opens up on to the pavements. Good restaurant. ”
“Arrived at the lodge and was greeted by 2 lovely hosts who showed us to our room and was very helpful and told us some very interesting facts about the lodges (an all girls school built before the ww2 I do believe ).
The room was very clean and beautiful inside and the small window behind the bed overlooked the forest behind which was beautiful.
Overall very quiet, the only bit of noise is people walking to and from their rooms as they are so close together but we was so tired we eventually...
“Medi, the chef, and his wife, Daniella, run the Inn and gave us both a warm, friendly welcome. The room was tidy and clean and we both had good night's sleeps even though the room was above the pub..I recommend Medi's Eggs Benedict which was fantastic and he also catered in the evening with great home made food - I had the best fish and chips I've had for many a year..I'd recommend the Sunday roast too which was awesome and over generous...and reasonably priced...

“Sehr schön gelegenes Hotel mit sehr freundlichem, hilfsbereitem Personal. Unser Zimmer war sehr gross und super ausgestattet mit neu renoviertem Bad in gutem Zustand. Die Betten waren sehr bequem.
Das Hotel hat einen tollen Garten mit vielen Sitzgelegenheiten und einer schönen Aussicht auf die Brücke und den Fluss.
Das Restaurant hat eine gute Auswahl an Speisen und wir haben sehr lecker gegessen. Das Frühstücksbuffet war sehr reichhaltig. Wir waren sehr zufrieden.”
“Delightful stay with incredibly friendly & willing staff,nothing was too much trouble. A mixture of old and new & my room(in the garden block) was spacious,modern & a lovely view from the patio over the cricket pitch & down to the Tyne. Food was very good,I ate in the bar but you can go more formal if you want.
Hotel is in an enviable position,just outside Bellingham so access to roads easy. Even an indoor pool. If you like comfort,without formality,I would highly recommend.”
