"When I was looking for a place to stay in Fuji I knew I wanted the authentic Japenese ryokan experience and this was definitely exceeded expectations. The room was extremely clean with practical features, such as air conditioning, air humidifier, extra toiletries and bedding. We had a view of the lake and it was beautiful. If you stay, I highly recommend doing the half board, where breakfast and dinner is included! It was so cool to have your room flipped around to a dining experience. We also used the onsen- both private and public. Very cool to try, everything that is offered felt clean and unique if you’ve never been before. The location was also ideal, being near the lake and a ton of local landmarks. This stay is by a lot of bike rentals- recommend doing this as well if you stay! Kasuitei Ooya also felt very modern even though its been there for decades! Highly recommend in comparison to other stays in the area :)"

Lakeland Hotel Mizunosato

"Roof top Fuji view is great. Kimono offering and public bath is wonderful. Has some difficulty to find out about transportation nearby. Lack of clear information. Hotel shuttle has no other stops. Made it difficult to get around the areas other than calling uber. Food are good but do not know what is on the menu. Overall very good experience"

Fuji View Hotel

"We stayed in a Japanese style room for three nights. The room was larger than expected with a fabulous view of Mount Fuji (weather permitting). Futon beds were very comfortable with additional mattresses available if required. Excellent shower in the bathroom. Breakfast: a huge choice of breakfast food, but very busy at opening time (7.30 am). We had a Japanese meal in the restaurant which was average when compared to some of the restaurants we ate at in in town. Would suggest booking in advance if wanting to eat at the hotel. Our preferred slot of 19.45 was full booked when we arrived. The hotel is located about 3.5Km from Kawaguchi-Ko. The hotel shuttle bus runs between the hotel and the station at Kawaguchi-Ko on an hourly basis. The bus is a minibus seating about 20 people, so if you want to use the shuttle bus early booking is highly recommended as it fills up fast. Positives: Very friendly and helpful staff Amazing views of Mount Fuji Rooms are large and comfortable. Negatives Distance from Kawaguchi-Ko town and lack of transport (buses and taxis) after 8pm can mean it's a long walk home if you choose to eat in the town. rrrestaurants"

HOSHINOYA Fuji

"We absolutely loved our stay at Hoshinoya Fuji. From start to finish the experience was amazing, with incredible staff and amenities. Our taxi dropped us to the main reception area where we checked in, selected backpacks for our stay (containing useful gear for hiking and being in the outdoors!) and then were driven up to our room. You can call anytime for a car to take you from the main property back down to the reception area (or vice versa) so whether you wanted to be fully immersed or able to explore the area, you could. The room itself was spacious, light and clean with a gorgeous huge window to hopefully view Fuji, as well as a balcony with table, fire and sofa. The hotel has many options for activities and food, over our stay we enjoyed the music and bonfire session, canoeing on the lake, breakfast on our balcony (which was a particular standout!) and dinner at the restaurant. Every experience was incredible, and we really felt so immersed in the outdoors. Our stay was two nights and we opted to go out and explore around the area as well as enjoy the hotel amenities, but I feel you could easily spend three or four days purely on the hotel grounds and enjoying all they have to offer. We were lucky enough to get two clear days of visibility of Fuji which made the stay even more perfect, but we would’ve still loved our stay based on the property alone. We would encourage anyone to stay here if your itinerary allows!"

Kawaguchiko Hotel

"Pickup from bus station was very welcome. Our room was large and lovely and we had a marvellous view over the lake. On our final day we had fabulous views from the fire exit and from the rooftop observatory to Mt Fuji which was magical. The onsen was a lovely experience, exceptionally clean and relaxing, with comfortable yukata (robes) provided. The full breakfast was massive and delicious, again with lovely views of lake. We enjoyed playing pool in the games room, and the laundry under the hotel was convenient. The library was also a nice space. Lots of local food options, and convenient to attractions like Kubota Itchiku Art Museum (kiminos). Beds comfortable. Only minor thing that might have made the stay more comfortable would be having a bench to put luggage on as it is not allowed in the bedroom/ tatami area. Otherwise, perfect. Staff very welcoming and friendly and a lift back to bus station at the end of our stay as well."
