You get what you pay for. Twins Hotel is not a luxury hotel, but it is conveniently located close to the Kota train station and TransJakarta bus station, which means it's a useful place to stay if you need to do things in Jakarta or want to see the National Museum (6 stops on bus 1). It's also walking distance to the Bank Museum and the old city historical buildings, so it's a good starting point for other tourist activities.
The staff were very friendly and arranged for a driver to meet me at the airport when I flew in on a domestic flight (cost 250,000 rupiya, a bit more than a taxi but it saved the hassle of negotiating with taxi drivers and not knowing if they knew where they were going). They also let me store my luggage all day when I checked out, since I didn't want to haul it with me while I explored the city.
My room was clean and the bed was acceptably comfortable. The bathroom was typical of many low budget Asian hotels and apartments, with the shower just attached to the wall. That meant water got everywhere and the floor remained wet long after I had finished. There was also an unpleasant smell coming up through the drains. The major drawback of the room was not having a window, but that may actually have been good since the outside street traffic was really loud. I didn't want to spend a lot of time in the room.
