La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Secaucus Meadowlands
2/10 Terrible
"When we first arrived, the hotel seemed okay. It wasn’t the greatest but it wasn’t the worst so we decided to stay. We were given our room key and pointed toward the elevator. The elevator was sketchy. It was making a lot of noise. That was our first warning. We get to our floor and there are marks all on the wall, it looked like the floor was slightly neglected. We open the door to our room and it’s better than expected but not the best. We walked to the bedroom door and tried to flip the switch. The switch doesn’t work. So we had to fumble in the dark to find the light. Once we found the light it was fine. Then I went to plug in my phone to the socket and it wasn’t working. The next day the elevator was making more strange noises. By the time we got back, it allowed us one more trip and then it broke when my husband was trying to come up to the 6th floor. He told the front desk attendant that the elevator was not working and instead of a simple courteous apology, the attendant was nonchalant, unapologetic and told my husband that he could take the second hallway stairs to his 6th floor room. There were no signs on the floors to direct those who did not know the elevator was broken to the correct staircase. There were two staircases and one only led to the outside. It’s annoying when you go down 12 flights of stairs and cannot get to the lobby. The breakfast was okay."

Harmony Suites
8/10 Good
"I stayed for 3 nights/4days at this property. Property is conveniently located, nice room, small but useful swimming pool and gym, water refill in the gym. Location hit me the most, very easy to commute to NYC from this location in bus/Uber. Staff was very responsive for all but room service request. Room will be full of needfuls on the check-in day, and then you can request cleaning service if needed. My room was on 7th floor front facing, which gives you good look in the morning and night both. Complementary Breakfast was ok because I am vegetarian, and I like to have something which cater my morning breakfast needs. A lot of people of similar interests were just eating bread and butter, and tea instead of freshly made hot vegetarian breakfast dish like (poha / idly chutney/ vada sambhar/puri sabji/ thepla / paratha/ dhokla, any of these). Hotel management should act on this breakfast feedback specially when they know they have people who like to have any of such item in breakfast, any single item is good to begin with. Being in Jersey city, this should be easily doable. I'll definitely recommend to friends, who like to use public transport for NYC trip. And if breakfast menu has something mentioned above added, then it's 5star from me. Can definitely come back for next trip."

"Loved the room, but I was on 208 right above the check in desk below so it was loud and uneasy to sleep. Room and experience and breakfast were excellent."

"Nice hotel in great location across from the Ferry to midtown manhattan. Positives: - Location: the ferry and a nearby grocery store are very handy to have so close! The boardwalk is a great place to take a stroll and enjoy the city views. - Breakfast was a nice touch. If you are gluten-free, be sure ask for the GF muffins which they keep in the freezer. They are Udi’s which is a great brand for those of us with gluten and lactose issues. - Kitchen in the room is always nice to have. - Parking: the self-park parking lot was very convenient and reasonably priced. Downside: - The pullout mattress. It was horrible! Very uncomfortable. Housekeeping did not leave any bedding either so we had to call down each day for it. - Partial View: Unless you have a room that is directly facing the Hudson River, your view will be of construction/ buildings. We had a room that said ‘partial view’ of the city but that was a stretch! We really only saw the construction of the building next-door. Lastly, because of the proximity to the ferry, it would be nice for hotel guests to get a discount on the ferry. It adds up when your family takes it every day back-and-forth. Overall a lovely, clean hotel that’s quiet from the hustle and bustle of Manhattan."
