Two dead birds on the property. Noisy neighbors (other guests). Limited breakfast options (bananas, prepackaged pastries. That's it: not even coffee or tea).

I think you have property mixed up other property. All our rooms have coffee. And there were no neighbors next to you and you did not come in for breakfast. Your mom loved the retro motel on the lake.

Great
Felt like I was in grandma's guest room. Very comfortable and home-like. Cute set up and very quiet except for the rooms going to 112-114. Doors are loud. No problems, even did a load of laundry. Thumbs up!

We were coming to town for a wedding and chose this hotel because of the reviews. Hearing that it is unique with a “Rt 66” retro-vibe and also a small business, I definitely wanted to check it out! Uncomfortable,
Plastic, unclean, noisy, non breathable wrapper on the mattress rendered is unusable as such. We had to strip[ the bed, remove it an remake the bed so we could actually sleep on it. Also the beds were set up on these weird plastic buckets, (looked like ice buckets). Made for a lot of noise everytime you moved at all.

Fantastic experience in a 1960s-1970s themed hotel. An entertaining mix of old and new. Great place to stay along Route 66, with a beautiful lake next door.

Charming but Left More to be Desired
Check in was easy, but I was less than impressed with the cleanliness of the room. The decor was cute and charming for the theme, but smelled faintly of smoke (although it was a nonsmoking property) and could have used a good deep clean, especially in the bathroom. I’d spent the extra $20 on a nicer room elsewhere next time.

This little gem is tucked away on Route 66. It takes you back into 1980’s theme. The hotel was clean and staff was extremely friendly. It’s not a chain, so don’t expect to stay at a 5-star Hilton. It’s a cute ma and pa Inn. Breakfast is served like it would be in your kitchen; cereal, banana and bagels. Was super clean and made me feel like I was at my grandmas again. Property is quiet and was nice to stay in some place different. Highly recommend when wanting some place original to stay.

Although there are many hotels to choose from in the Joplin area that offer pool, exercise equipment, and other luxuries, nothing compares to the peacefulness and sounds of nature that you get to experience in this Carthage gem just outside of the city. The Kellogg Lake adjacent to the property is a must-see. It’s a beautiful escape from the demands of work and daily life. Don’t be fooled - this is the place to get your mind and body recharged! We need more places like this to keep us grounded & relaxed

Family run, retro motel recreating the route 66 of the past. Themed rooms, good facilities let down by a poor breakfast.

A wonderful surprise!
Owned and maintained (consistently it seems) by a lovely couple who will greet you with a smile and mean it! Retro-ish inside added flair and the "backyard pool relaxing area" was very comfortable even for this grandma- plus the flowers mixed with native plants around felt very much like a home. Truly enjoyed my (too short)stay.

Impossible to miss on the edge of town, this place was once the Lake Shore Motel and has been here for 70 years or so. Kellogg Lake is a decent outfielder's throw away, and a good place to fish. The river is nearby for swimming on a hot day. The friendly staff are full of local history. If you're cruising Route 66, like I was, consider this an authentic option to the Boots Court. Adorable matching mini-fridge and microwave, if you're into that sort of thing.

Best Budget is an adorable and comfortable place to stay right on Route 66. The pool is outdoor and so refreshing for a break from HOT Missouri July temps, with an actual deep end! Clean, Clean, Clean!

Quiet, cozy and nostalgic
I found this motel to be cozy. The manager was friendly, the motel is across the street from a nice little lake and there is some places for food or gas close by. The motel is styled to be old fashioned, and is done in a good way. My room was very clean, and you can tell they look after it. My room had modern appliances but with a retro look which I liked. The hotel is on route 66,so I enjoyed the nostalgic feel. If it wasn't for the modern TV and my phone, I could have been back in time a few decades;and I mean that in a good way. Id return again if I'm ever back in the area

Best stay in MO so far.
This place and it’s owners are amazing. Our RV had to go to the shop and we found it by luck last minute. They allowed our dogs and at check in I was given a list of things to do on the area while we waited for our RV to be finished, ended up staying 2 nights and miss it already. Lake right across the street where you can fish and lots of doordash options and gas station across street has everything you need. Will be back if we’re in Carthage again.

My favorite Carthage motel
I love this older "Route 66" motel. They have updated the bathrooms and added a fridge and a microwave. My old complaint is the only blanket you get is also the bedspread. It was a bit big and heavy for my taste. I have stayed here multiple times and will come back when I need a motel near Joplin.

This was our 2nd stay and will stay again when traveling the area. Kevin and Paula are great hosts who take pride in their motel. Everything is always clean and I love the vintage look of the frig and microwave and the rotary dial matches too! So Cute of a place. The patio around the pool is so nice to relax at also.
