An ideal base if visiting the Kanchanaburi area, rooms are not modern but that is part of the charm of this guesthouse , a fridge , a tv and aircon in the rooms , a safe in the room which you get the key for by leaving a deposit, which you get back , 2 bottles of water left each day in room . An excellent pool area , great after a day exploring in the heat . The included breakfast was a bonus and really good and filling . The staff are really friendly and keep the place clean .

The staff were extremely helpful in dealing with our tour requests, nothing was too much of an issue, everything was explained. I would highly recommend Pong Phen Guesthouse when visiting Kanchanaburi.

A great little guest house where the lovely staff make you feel very welcome. I’ve been coming to Pong Phen for 20+ years & watched it evolve from a typical Kanchanaburi backpacker place to the extremely comfortable GH it is now. A huge variety of rooms to suit every budget, a great breakfast included and some of the best food in town - can’t be beaten!! It has a nice quiet setting on the River Kwai, down a lane so no traffic noise, and the most beautiful sunsets over the serene river. Plus in 40C+ the pool was just wonderful…… Thank you to all the staff for their kindness and hospitality on my first solo trip. Hopefully, see you again next year!

Staff friendly and helpful. Room was really nice overlooking the river. Also very well cleaned. Food was fantastic. Some of the best pappaya salad i have tasted. Parking good for larger motorbikes as well. Good location bear to a few bars. I will certainly be going back there again.

Fantastic place to stay - very good value! I stayed in one of the bungalows which had a nice, small balcony. Location is excellent - off the Main Street, but still quiet. Breakfast, which was included, was very tasty! I liked it so much, I extended my stay by two days.
