Perfect place to stay in downtown area.

Super clean, super friendly, easily accessible, and perfect for a calm stay. Check-in and out was a breeze and no hassle from an in keeper or anything. The property is just blocks from downtown and has a beautiful view of the city sky line. This was a top notch stay for us. Highly recommend.

The check in time is listed as 4pm, but in very small print down below it is 4-6pm. They do not have an electonic key pad check in like every other place we have stayed. If you miss this window they may let you check in later but can (and did for us) cancel our entire weekend stay and they kept all of our money. They would not even let us check in the next day.

Sweet little B and B

Our stay with Shiela was amazing. We arrived later in the day and Shiela was there to greet us with tea, coffee, cookies and a smile! The house was beautiful, impeccably decorated, spacious and is noticeably clean. She gave us great information to get where we needed to go and even offered to pick us up after our show if we got stuck. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again and encourage anyone looking for a nice intimate experience to give The Secret Place B and B a look!

The owner is really nice! My room, bathroom, kitchen, dining and the entire house is very clean! I was a little nervous when I arrived in front of the door but she gave me a warm welcome! Free bottled water in the refrigerator, k-cup coffee and microwave were so useful for me! It’s 5 mins away from the Convention Center by car so that the area was pretty quiet. There’s no shops around the property but other than that, I really enjoyed relaxing!

I would maybe suggest a deadbolt on the bedroom.door. Also Kleenex and cups in the bathroom would have been nice another suggestion update to a smart tv for steaming purposes. Overall we had a good experience at the house.

Hidden gem!!!!!

My mom and I had a girl's weekend and went to the Ed Sheeran concert. The Secret Place was centralized located to get to everything. We went to the Farmers Market on Saturday morning and was only 5 minute drive. Clean and comfortable!!! One of the best nights sleep ive had in a minute. It was so nice to come back to a peaceful place for the night. Will be coming back when we are in town!!!

I would strongly discourage anyone from staying at this property. The room lacked even the most basic hotel amenities. There was no shampoo, and when I asked about it, I was told there was “no demand” for it. There was also no hair dryer because, according to the host, a previous guest had stolen it and it had never been replaced. There wasn’t even a cup or other basic in-room amenities. The most concerning part of the stay was the checkout experience. About 20 minutes before the stated checkout time, I received a message threatening that if I had not vacated the property by 11:00 a.m., the police would be called. Then, at exactly 11:00 a.m., the host entered my room without knocking, told me I needed to leave immediately, and again threatened to call the police. When Expedia contacted the host regarding my complaint, I was disappointed to learn that the explanation given was that they had entered the room to determine whether post-checkout cleaning was needed. That was not consistent with my experience. The room was entered while I was still occupying it, without knocking or obtaining permission, and the conversation centered on forcing me to leave immediately. I’ve stayed in many hotels and vacation rentals over the years, and I’ve never experienced such an unprofessional and intimidating checkout process. Basic amenities, respect for guest privacy, and professional communication should be the minimum standard. Unfortunately, this property failed on all three.

Be warned! Their ridiculous 2- hour check-in policy is stated on page 3 of the itinerary. Don't fall into the same non-refundable trap we did. At 7:15 in downtown Kansas City, we were left on the streets...ruining our honeymoon. They refused to come back out for us; we were tagged a "no-show". We lost hundreds of dollars. They sent no warning about their check-in policy.

The property ended up being harder to commute to the Power and Light district than we anticipated. The owner is lovely, and the room was stunning and very clean. We did feel as though we had to be very quiet as we could hear the other guests’ conversations. This room is also not made for short people! I am 5’0” and I could not use the bathroom mirror and had to literally jump up to get into the bed each time. The bed was also very, very plush which hurt our backs quite a bit, but I know everybody has different preferences. Rooms are on third floor so definitely would not be good for somebody who can not climb stairs. The breakfast consisted of yogurt, nuts, Cheerios, and on one day it was a breakfast sandwich and the other it was toast. Overall 3.5/5
