Kice Island, Florida hotel rooms at the Independent

"We couldn’t sleep because of the room next door. They got into a fight, and it was so bad that they even left underwear in the hallway. We were afraid to go out or call, so we didn’t report it at the time. However, when we checked out of the hotel, I informed the appropriate person. He asked why we didn’t call so they could change our room, but I explained that two people were already asleep because it was very late, and because of the situation that was happening, we did not feel comfortable calling. For a one-day stay, the hotel is worth it. The pool and the outdoor areas near the pool are very nice. Another thing is that when we made the reservation, we also took into consideration the photos they posted. However, the place did not look the same as the pictures. I understand that guests should read the details, but from my perspective, if a hotel is going to promote something, they should use the correct photos. I have nothing negative to say about the staff. The rooms were clean, but the walls had noticeable mold stains near the top. It looked like they had painted over it, but the stain remained. "

"There is a man named “Matt” not sure if that is his real name. Tall, white, slim figure and wears no name tag. This man has made our stay at Staybridge a terrible experience. This man was unwilling to help our family with another room due to it only having one bed. He discriminated us because we are hispanic and speak spanish. Even though I am bilingual and fluent in English. He told us and I quote “ DON’T SPEAK SPANISH IN FRONT OF ME” and proceeded to run away threatening to call the cops on us. He is clearly extremely racist and discriminatory. His behavior was repugnant and repulsive. This man has no business working at the front desk of any hotel. I will be reaching out to IHG Hotels and reporting this incident."

"Overall the experience was great, the place was clean and in a quiet area. The only problem we had was when we arrived at 3pm for check in the room was not ready and we had to wait. But they did gave us the option to check out an hour later. My only suggestion is that they need to put a long mirror as the only mirror they have is in the bathroom. We went for a wedding weekend and couldn’t see how we looked before leaving. Other than that, this is a great place to spend a nice relaxing weekend. "

"We really enjoyed our stay the only thing to criticize (and there’s nothing anyone could do about it), is there are drainage grates throughout the pool deck and every so often you could smell sewage. It was very unpleasant. Our room was comfy and clean and all the food we had here was really good. Also, the beach was super clean, well maintained and the beach bar and chair service was great. We wish there were food service at the beach but that wasn’t a very big deal. Overall a more than satisfactory experience!"
