I stayed at this hotel 10 years ago when it had just opened. It is in a great location for public transport and walking distance to a lot of restaurants and temples. Rooms are quite generously sized for kyoto as well. My only complaint is it looks like it needs a refresh as it's a little tired, doesn't look like it has been updated since I stayed there 10 years ago. Also the nicer Japanese garden has been removed from 10 years ago and the Japanese restaurant downstairs overlooking that garden which is also very disappointing.

The Hyatt is conveniently located not far from a JR Sunday line from where one can reach almost all interesting locations in Kyoto. The rooms are well designed, clean and quiet. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The Japanese restaurant is nice and provides good food & good & friendly service but it is expensive compared to restaurants at the Ponto-cho. If one has a car parking is provided on site for a fee. My wife and I staid for 6 nights and we liked the hotel.

We had an amazing stay at the Hyatt Regency Kyoto! The location is perfect, and the staff are incredibly friendly, warm, and helpful. A special thank you to Dennis, the assistant manager, who went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect during our visit. Our room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable. We had stayed at 3 other hotels in Japan and by far the customer service was fantastic!! We were welcomed right away as we got out of our taxi and knowing it was a super hot day, we were given ice cold water bottles right away. There were chairs to relax in which was so nice. Interesting when we stayed at the Intercontinental in Tokyo there were so chairs to sit and signs everywhere stating not sit on the ledges. We were walked up to our room and when we asked for extra pillows/blanket the young lady brought them in less then a minute which usually sometimes takes hours to get. Big shoutout to the best concierge staff ever! One of the ladies helped schedule a hair cut appt for my daughter and myself which was super last minute. She really wanted to help us. And we got amazing cut/color within 5 min walking distance to hotel. The next mornign when asking again for help with getting to the airport on train the concierge helped outline everything on the subways and color coded it. Only downside is they don’t have a pool. Breakfast buffet was really good! Chef even came out to great everyone and to get feedback.
