Good sized room well kept
Limited menu due to chef leaving recently.
What was available was varied to suit most tastes
What was served was well cooked tasty and obviously freshly prepared.
One of the best meals for a hotel of this level i have ever had.
Looking forward to trying out an full menu on a future visit
I was at a lovely room with plenty of space and good amenities but the shower head was mouldy and mostly blocked. It is a nice place and something like this really made the visit less enjoyable.

As usual very nice and spotlessly clean and super for parking
This was just an overnight stop, but I would recommend the hotel highly. The room and bathroom were excellent and the bed was very comfortable.
The self service buffet breakfast was very generous
Such a shame that the owners can’t operate the bar/restaurant anymore due to energy costs.
Noise due to proximity to M74 motorway. Room had damp patch on roof. There was a constant drpping sound. And there was a massive green fire escape light which lit up the room all night.
Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was great.

Liked: Cleanliness, room comfort
If you want just a clean bed it’s fine, otherwise
Positives = clean room with good bed and decent shower, plus good parking.
Negatives = check in closes at 8pm, corridors had a bit of an odour(!), breakfast was very disappointing (choice of 2 cereals, boxed apple juice or tea/coffee made by yourself. Some shop purchased pastries in their airtight plastic wrapper and an apple or tangerine.
Lovely convenient hotel next to the motorway, room was fantastic, big, clean with a very large bed. Only downside is that it’s advertised as breakfast included and it was only a few pastries, fruit and a choice off 3 cereals. There were tea/coffee but you had to make everything yourself as the whole dining room was unmanned. Shame really and shouldn’t be advertised as breakfast included. Only had apple juice cartons in fridge, no orange juice. The only time we seen anyone was when we arrived and then we had to ring the door bell for someone to check us in, disappointed in the breakfast.
The hotel was basically closed. There was myself and another couple staying at the hotel. There were no staff on site. We were given key to access hotel and another key to access our room. The restaurant is closed. The site advertises breakfast included. This was very limited as shown in pictures. The kitchen was closed so no access to the toaster. Breakfast was cereal (choice of 3) fruitjuice (choice of one), yoghurts. There was a 4pt of milk in the chiller. 2 bananas and 2 apples, a few random biscuits , flapjacks and chocolate croissants. The rooms were clean and tidy and the bed was comfortable with a wet room & shower. Myself and the other couple were put at opposite ends of the hotel on 2 different floors even though we knew one another and had gone up to Larkhall for the same event. Photographs of restaurant and coffee shop need to be removed from the site. It needs to state limited breakfast available. If guests had any food allergies Dairy or Gluten then breakfast would be out of the question for them with the limited choice. The location of the hotel is ideal with ample parking. I understand the owners are looking to retire. It would be a pity to see the hotel close fully. I would have been very worried if I had turned up there on my own to stay and had been the only one staying there.
The only hotel I've stayed in that you look after yourself never seen anyone at breakfast time .we were at a wedding came back later were given key earlier never seen anyone then either .

Disliked: Cleanliness
Check in went smooth but it felt a bit rushed.
Room wasn't hoovered on closer inspection and bathroom floor wasn't clean. As we were were heading straight out we informed staff the next day, the floor had been hoovered on our return but bathroom floor was untouched.
These are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Rooms are nice, clean. Restaurant has great food. Staff is very friendly and will go out of their way for you. I would highly recommend The Old Schoolhouse. I will definitely stay here on my next visit.
I literally only slept the night, had a shower and left.
I lovely wee private hotel and hood value with the best possible like to theM74 but other that I can’t tell you much.
The Staff is very helpful. The food is awesome, great breakfast and dinner menu. Will be back to stay when I'm in Scotland. My first time to Scotland but not my last. Thanks to all the Staff at the Old School Hotel.

I was told if you can’t say anything good, don’t say anything at all.
I cannot understand why this is a four star hotel !
It does not have a proper dining room. Dinner in a dark and dingy bar and breakfast in a cafe. It is not properly licenced either. The bar closes at 9pm. I only found this out when I returned from a gig in Lanark at 10.30 hoping for a beer, only to find it locked up. I will not be going back and I certainly will not recommend it to anyone.
