"It was relaxing to stay there. I enjoyed the fact that there was a full kitchen and dining area. I wish that we had thought to reserve a fishing boat for at least a half a day."

"Our room was on the third floor, which offered an amazing view of the lake - exactly what we were hoping for! You do not want to miss the sunrise in the mornings from the balcony! :) We’ve been to some places where the kitchen has little to offer for appliances and simple meal prep- this place exceeded our expectations and the ice maker in the fridge was appreciated. Crafts for the kids, s’mores and fire pits made the evenings that much more enjoyable. Staff was friendly and checkin was a breeze. Definitely would recommend to friends and family."
"Even though this hotel could use some cosmetic updating, let’s be real people…it is the only hotel in downtown Grand Marais with a pool! It even has a hot tub too! My kids love to swim and so this was a great choice for us and non-negotiable for the kids. Also, you can get 2 rooms (like we did) for the price of one room at the more expensive hotels around it (which don’t have a pool). Beds were comfortable, rooms were clean, and staff were friendly. Breakfast is just cereal, bagels with cream cheese, pancakes, yogurt, fruit cups, and microwaveable oatmeal packs. I am GF so I packed my own food and that worked out fine for me. Kids were fine with breakfast. Rooms have refrigerators, but I wish they had microwaves in the rooms instead of just the lobby. Hot tub felt good on sore muscles after long days of hiking. If you are expecting a hotel that is modern and updated, without its quirks, this is not for you. However, if you are looking for something comfortable, affordable, easily walkable, and fun for the family this is a great choice."
"Beautiful place! Quant and quiet, celebrated the Fourth of July. Close enough to the action- far enough to be away from the noise. Looking forward to booking again in the future."
