“We read the reviews and were intrigued. We stayed in winter, and it is cold in Bothwell. It would have been much more inviting if the hosts had the heater running prior to our arrival, but once the property warmed up after a few minutes the shock of how cold it was faded away. We stayed in the 1837 cottage. The accommodation is rustic, eclectically furnished and decorated, and gives an appreciation of life in times gone by. “Basic things that were neglected or done poorly 1) no pre check in email was received resulting in us being stuck outside the property as we were not informed of the access code to gain entry into the property. Imagine being caught in a situation when you had 4 cars backed up behind you and you couldn’t get in - enough said 2) no air conditioning in the rooms and the windows can’t be open. Rooms are hot, stuffy and poorly ventilated- would have been helpful to have that piece on information on...
