I was surprised to find such a nice looking hotel for a reasonable (NYC) price. My first question- what’s wrong with it? The pictures may not allude to this- so here’s some things to consider if you’re staying here.
It’s cheap because-
- It’s tiny. The hotel isn’t called “Little” by coincidence. Rooms have spots for your luggage, but they really aren’t big enough for more than one person.
- It’s incredibly noisy. My room was facing the street- despite shutting my window the whole time, there was minimal sound proofing (lots of loud, drunk, rowdy people all through the night outside)
- It’s hot. Not a great spot for summer- the AC never managed to get down to the level I set it (despite running it for two days straight). The AC only cools above the bed and doesn’t reach the bathroom or the hallway.
- It’s not staffed outside of standard day hours. I arrived at 11pm to find the front door locked and an empty reception. Fortunately a guest appeared and let me in, after which I figured how to download the App to get my key- but it was a mission (esp at that time of night).
Overall- it’s average. The rooms look cute (and some parts are), but they’re poorly designed (not even a proper shelf to put soap on in the shower),it’s super loud and not overly comfortable. Will not be staying again- will opt for an older (slightly less cool) hotel in the Financial District or similar quiet area next time I’m in town.
