With new COVID-19 safety guidelines in place, travel looks a little different nowadays. These are some helpful things to know before you pack your bags for Northwest Pennsylvania:

• Understand the restrictions and rules in both your origin and destination. You may not be able to travel depending on local circumstances, so check before you lock something in.
• Wear a face mask during airport screening. A TSA officer will ask you to lower your mask temporarily for ID purposes.
• Avoid handing your boarding pass (electronic or paper) directly to a TSA officer. Instead, position the pass on the scanner and then hold it up for inspection.
• One container of liquid hand sanitizer is now permitted in your carry-on baggage. It must be no bigger than 12 oz (350 ml), and you'll need to remove it from your bag for X-ray scanning.
• Empty your personal items from your pockets, like your wallet, phone and small change, and put them in your carry-on rather than into bins. This will reduce handling during screening.
• Transport any food items in a clear plastic bag and also place them in a screening bin. Keeping food separate from your carry-on makes it less likely that a TSA employee will need to open and touch your bag for inspection.

In an effort to minimize contact between passengers and flight crew for the remainder of the COVID-19 pandemic, most airlines have taken physical distancing and other precautionary measures to the skies. These carriers include:

• United Airlines - this airline is known for providing passenger masks and cleaning with disinfectant.
• Delta - this airline is known for electrostatic cleaning and cleaning with disinfectant.
