Historical location is ideal for visiting museums, theaters, parks, & restaurants. Ample nearby lots for overnight parking. Note in booking, hotel has four levels, no elevator. Enjoyed everything about our stay.
Great location, surrounded by food and historical spots to check out. I really enjoyed the view and city sounds (can be a bit much with music blasting and loud cars late night if you are a light sleeper). A bit further on the edge of the city depending on what you want to see. The vaulted ceiling and natural lighting helped make the smallish room seem more spacious then it was and the bathroom was absolutely great with the rain fall-type shower head and bidet. Would very much recommend for a 1-2 person weekend trip/get away.
Gorgeous hotel, the staff was extremely helpful, we accidentally left something in the room and they went above and beyond to help. Perfect location and the bathrooms are stunning, definitely will be going back
This was a really nice boutique hotel in walking distance to lots of bars, restaurants, and museums. The “virtual lobby” experience was a little inconvenient when checking in, but the stay was really great.
I am torn about this hotel. The location and price are spot on. However, you have to give them all of your sensitive information to include a copy of your Drivers License.
This property is a very DIY type situation. If it saves you a bunch of money and that's what you're looking for, with decent accommodations and character it's great. But, if you're looking for pampering, this ain't it. We enjoyed our stay as we were not looking to break the bank and had the kids with us. But, we did not have hot water in the shower which would have been a deal breaker if we'd stayed more than one night.
Loved the place we stayed and the bed super comfortable. Restaurant below us was amazing. Food was delicious. staff very nice and attentive. Would love to stay again ❤️
Being able to text with the front desk staff about our needs made it really easy to communicate before arrival and when we were not physically at the hotel!
We were staying two nights in Old city to celebrate my wife’s birthday and decided to stay at the hotel with our two children. The hotel is beautiful and you can really see the history building in the decor. Our boys enjoyed the bunk beds, heated toilet, and large shower. Unfortunately, that is where are the positives end. We ended up leaving the hotel the same night because the hot water and thermostat was not working. It was a rainy chilly night and we looked forward to a warm shower and hated the fact my son took a cold shower. The hotel refunded our money, but figuring out alternate plans really left a sour taste in our mouth. I would not recommend this hotel and have learned my lesson to only stay at hotels with an on site receptionist. Having to community over text was not great and couldn’t really help us till the morning.
This is a building with rooms, not a hotel! It has self-check-in via an app, which must be completed in advance. No one is present. All rooms are 1.5 to 3.5 flights of stairs. There is no elevator. The maintenance is shoddy. The cleaning supplies and extra linens are in piles on the stair landings.
Furthermore, fair warning is not given to guests. You have to click "About this property" details to see that it has virtual check-in and accessibility issues. Even after booking, Expedia does not communicate these facts. Nor does the hotel, because the hotel uses text messages and Expedia does not provide them phone numbers.
Finally there are maintenance and design problems. The bunkbed in my room had broken guard rails and the large bathroom had no counter or shelf for even a small cosmetic bag. The good news is that there is a sprinkler system.
Loved this small space. Warm tile bathroom, comfy bed, immersed in the history of the space. Clever use of small space: hooks and shelves and tiny desks when you need them. Smart. Beautiful.
Overall, I had an amazing stay! If you're looking for a place right in the city center of Philadelphia--this is perfect for you! The hotel and restaurant are newly remodeled and the room I had was absolutely beautiful! The bathroom was state of the art and the bed was very comfy. It also had a new record player, wifi, and nice flat screen tv. The restaurant also had GREAT food! A special thanks to Jhene (Manager), Gregory (Bartender), and Brian (Owner) for making my stay truly enjoyable. I will definitely come back!
This hotel was very cutely designed and easy to just walk in. It was very centrally located. What was very disappointing is reading the Google reviews every guest comments on no hot water and every time society hill says they’ve fixed it.. having now experienced it myself it is starting to feel like a scam that they simply refuse to offer running hot water and turn it on at the final hour. The room was quite small, which was fine, but just prepared that it’s essentially the size of your bed- plenty of storage though! Our lights flickered which was also annoying. They said they would come by first thing in the morning, but didn’t. I got a text at 11 pm that the water was magically “fixed”, but it still wasn’t.
They have a lot to offer in terms of space design and cost- so just be upfront and honest about the water (and maintenance overall) ! Charge more if you need to.. Don’t trick people!!
One of the best hotels I have been to. It isn't like your typical hotel, more so with self service but the amenities and what's within reach in the area is absolutely perfect. It's so walkable. You have an adequate amount of room to do just about anything. The room is grand, the bathroom even more perfect. It was amazing.
Very affordable lodgings in the heart of the old city, walking distance to everything. The rooms were comfortable and well appointed. I did have some issues with the entry codes but staff was very responsive and it was sorted quickly. It would be nice to provide a bottle of water and tea / coffee for the guests. But otherwise, perfect stay if you are comfortable with stays without a front desk. I use them regularly when I travel, it always means a great location at a lower cost.
