We stayed at Bahia Principe Ambar from April 23-May 1st. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with such amazing hospitality. The grounds are absolutely beautiful! The beach is a short walk from anywhere on the resort and you can always find chairs. Horam was amazing, always checking in to see how we were doing to ensure our stay was great! Horam took very good care of us, we felt like royalty and we are not privilege members. He goes above and beyind to ensure guest satisfaction! Thank you Horam! That is a big deal! It is not always like that at other resorts. Andreina in the lobby bar was such a sweet heart! So friendly and amazing service! She truly makes your guests feel taken care of! We dont don't much, but we did have a few while we were on vacation and whther it was coffee, a mojito or the delicious chocolate martini she whipped up she would see us coming and have it ready! We never had to wait long at all. Thank you Andreina! The Palmyra... shout out to Miguel, Saony, Ela, Daniel for always making sure we had great tables and friendly service! Ronin, I love how you announce "¡cafe!". Ela, your smiling face and positive attitude makes the place feel so warm and inviting! Every single person at this resort exudes hospitality and were so great! Housekeeping made sure we were always stocked on water! We didnt even have to ask. After a couple days of us being there they just started sending extra because we had requested more 2x previously. Everyone is fantastic!

We've stayed at Ambar 8 times in 3 years, chose it for a major birthday in 2023, and have already booked it for late December this year. That's how much we like it! THE GOOD: Unlike Iberostar Grand, Barcelo Bavaro Beach, and Punta Cana Princess, all rooms are smoke-free. The swim-out rooms are amazing and worth the extra money. The showers in all rooms are huge. The beach is beautiful. The pool is very big, with round corners for privacy. The Caribbean pizza at the Italian restaurant is the best I've ever eaten. The food at the buffet restaurant is extremely varied and delicious, with many nutritious options, and the servers are polite and efficient (Jose). The reception staff are friendly and helpful (Orlendy). THE BAD: The timeshare reps hound you at breakfast time to attend a presentation. Unlike RIU Palace Macao, the sports bar has no buffet-style food ready to eat. There is hardly any evening entertainment, so you must take a ride to El Pueblito and the nearby hotel to listen to live music and dance. THE UGLY: The pool staff kick you out at 6 PM sharp while the sun is still out. That is an unnecessary joy killer. They should learn from RIU Palace Macao, Iberostar Grand, Barcelo Bavaro Beach, Punta Cana Princess, Secrets Royal Beach PC, TRS Turquesa, and Excellence PC, where we've stayed in the pools until 7-8 PM every night without the staff ever bothering us. Please let your customers enjoy the pool until 7 PM!

The entertainment staff at the hotel was top notch. They got the crowd involved and had fun activities to attend. The resort is beautiful and easy to get around with go cart rides from the staff drivers. Everyone at the hotel was very helpful and friendly. The beaches are pretty and the pools are large and fun! The buffets were presented beautifully and had almost anything you could want to eat. I loved the morning coffee shop.for cappuccinos. The village had a small casino and a disco that was a lot of fun! I would definitely return to this resort.

The location and resort area was very nice. The food was average, even the specialty restaurants. The buffet was the same everyday. The restaurant staff was very nice, but when walking about the property the staff was not friendly or helpful.

The property is very nice indeed! The set-up is easily walkable and the scenery is very serene and good for photos or just enjoying as you walk around. On occasion, staff seemed bothered or irritable if you asked questions or asked for help - this was especially true in the restaurants. Wait staff didn't want to be bothered. And, the food overall was not very good. It was mostly BLAND, meats were undercooked (even when asked for medium well), fruit was not ripe - the food was very disappointing no matter what restaurant you went to. I would recommend the resort, but NOT the food.

The best part of this hotel was its entertainment staff Kennin, Madeline and Edwin known by all as “King Kong” and pool bar service attendant Desiree. The staff went above and beyond to make the guests feel special. I can’t say enough about pool bar attendant Desiree, she was amazing! If we decide to come back and stay at this hotel it will be because of her. Had a fabulous time lounging by the pool and socializing with these staff members, they truly love their job and the guests. The hotel landscaping is maintained beautifully. The rooms were cleaned daily by the lovely and hardworking cleaning staff. Ran into a few rude individuals all working the front desk and reservation area. If they don’t like their job maybe they should be reassigned to help clean the rooms. The staff with the most labor intensive job seemed to be the friendliest.

Pros: Beautiful well maintained beach and grounds. Rooms are spacious and clean. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Great variety of restaurants. Good entertainment. Excellent and well managed Beach restaurant Cons: Quality of food in specialty restaurants. Low water pressure in the shower Malfunctioning thermostat in our room Online app was not working for the duration of our stay, so we had to relay on concierge for reservations

Please hear me out. We are at this hotel for 10th time - we absolutely love it the balance between the resort in general and a price. It seems like lately Ambar is going more digital and all the info is on the website or in the app. BUT, neither of them were working and Everytime we need any info (shows, shopping, menu, activities, etc) we had to either call service desk or come to the front desk to find out. Internet worked very slow, wifi did not work. Housekeeping - cleaning ppl don't listen, we are early birds ( leaving room at 6am and come back 2 or 3PM) .our room was being cleaned around 3pm everday even though we told them and put a door sticker - this is VERY inconvenient and most of the time we refused the service. But overall it was okay and I put a 4 star ratings

Checked in told be ready in half hour go to buffet. Waited n waited no one approached me about room. Finally after 45 min asked and gave me room. Asked to be near family and was told “you are in same building as brother.” Lied. Not near either family members room! Went in room, balcony door didn’t lock called to fix. Maintenance came. Then safe didn’t work, maintenance came. Monday went to order room service, phone and tv not working, walked to front desk to report it, was told within 30 min technician will be there. Waited 40 min no one showed, later that night and tv working which means without permission and unbeknownst to me someone entered room- totally unacceptable. Tuesday at 1:30 am truck with workers or supplies down road where balcony was with loud beeping backup warning. Woke me up and couldn’t fall back to sleep. Thought this might have been a one/time thing but then happened again on Wednesday at 2:30am. Went to front desk on Wednesday at 8am to complain and they indicated they would try to switch my room. I told them I was not packing everything up as my trip is now half way over. Girl at front desk started talking to man about me not realizing I could speak Spanish. I left and contacted Expedia about going home earlier as very unsatisfied with hotel. Wednesday to Thursday lost tv yet again in whole complex. Terrible experience left a day early.

The food was fantastic, especially the ala carte restaurants and breakfasts. Service was wonderful. Great beach and very clean. Never had a problem getting a beach chair.

Great hotel and amenities, limbo food was just amazing, Samuel at guests experience was the best , attentive, caring and a true professional. His professionalism made out stay even more memorable. Roberto in limbo was great.

Extremely limited food choices for vegetarians. Nobody spoke or understood English so it was difficult to ask whether an item contained any meat. Staff in the registration area spoke English and were friendly but they couldn't help with the food. The on-premise restaurants were hot and had a lot of mosquitos. The plate had extremely limited quantity of food. You can't order more food at the restaurants. They only allowed ordering one item per course per person. The restaurants had no AC and some fans were turned off. The buffet staff was friendly but the staff at the restaurants was unhelpful and provided poor service. The drinks were watered down. The pool is almost always noisy and the beach is not that far from the pool. If you are looking for peace and quiet, you might have to try a few different spots. The rooms didn't feel high end but they were functional and had everything we needed. There were some good things: - Everyone was generally happy. The hotel staff was friendly and wanted to give you good experience. - Great coffee in the buffet as well as in the coffee shop. - Many different activities by the pool all day long. - The beach staff continually cleaned the beach.

The staff was so friendly and attentive all over the hotel. The food was good and had lots of options. It was hard to get chairs in the shade on the beach where we liked to spend the day so my husband had to get up at 6 to put towels on the chair. Other than that it was a perfect and relaxing getaway.

This hotel was amazing and the staff incredible. The entertainment staff Julio, Jefrison and the others were incredible. I can’t say enough of how entertaining Julio is His events throughout the stay were better each time. The obstacle event in the pool was hilarious. He brought all the guests together to have a great time. They kept the party going all the time and treated us with exceptional hospitality. Veronica from the pool bar was attentive and great. Alexis the butler came by to see us daily and make sure we had everything we needed. At las Brisa’s restaurant by the pool we had great service with Leonardo, Vicente and Noiberto. I can’t find one thing to say negative. Our entire stay from check in to check out was perfect.

Honestly the best all inclusive I’ve been to. The food everywhere was great compared to other all inclusive hotels we’ve been too. Staff is great, entertainment was on point. Would definitely come back again. We stayed in Ámbar, but you end up having access to all the other Bahia principles there.
